Wait, these bands are considered old now? Damn, now I feel old!
I honestly feel it's time for Supper Club to move on. Sky Bar has been the go-to bar in Auburn for quite some time, and its location is much better/convenient. Perhaps Supper Club can relocate closer to downtown, but then the question would be asked if it would remain the same.
The crowd at Supper Club lately has been interesting...not too many Auburn students...more 'just outside-of-towners' and Southern Union folks. It was great for maybe one or two nights a semester when you want to get absolutely black out and don't really care about socializing a whole lot like people do at Sky.

Auburn needs more space for business downtown. I kind of wish they'd raze all the apartments on S Gay and do a bar/apartment area like Providence in Huntsville.

Or that big apartment complex next to McDonalds that is 85% empty.
I also find humor in the "luxury" apartments on S. Donahue and Glenn that is right next to the railroad crossing.
Auburn needs apartments, but these they build cost too much.

Gosh, that one is terrible, and there is at least one more like it on down Magnolia...closer to Momma G's.
Is it really 85% empty?

Also, Burger King takes up way too much damned space. That spot could be better used IMO.
Zoning is pretty bad in Auburn, that's my chief complaint. City planners dropped the ball on more than one occasion.

He wanted a different venue and change it up. He knew this would happen, but he can say he was forced into it vs him closing it and being the bad guy.
Or his version is more accurate than mine...

That exactly what I think has happened.

I looked at that Tom Hayley dude's property.... $4200 for a weekend penthouse for an AU football game? WTF?!?!?

I like Supper club but the crowd there is getting pretty strange

Dude is a dick.
But i can see why you would think he is a dick. Could you image spending your life playing the same songs every weekend to a bunch of drunk idiots that try to act like your bud or ask you to play stupid shite lol. I'd probably be a dick too

Couple of things.
The apartment complex next to McDonalds is called Concourse and they are ALL FULLY sold out. Everytime one goes up for sale, it sells fairly quickly. It is mostly used as a gameday condo due to the low cost to purchase.
Same goes for the complex's down Glenn and Magnolia. These units sell for mid 100's to low 200's and have very low monthly fees(less than $100). All of them are 50% occupied by gameday owners who use them infrequently.
They are nice units and won't be torn down anytime soon due to the ownership in the hands of somewhat wealthy individuals.

When has it not been? All that is ever there when I go are drunks and people who work at other bars (like Sky Bar) with there work shirts turned inside out.

That makes sense. Thanks for the knowledge. You have to understand why they look empty to me.

It is pretty absurd how many "gameday condos" there are in Auburn. You'll see entire apartment/condo parking lots empty on the north side of magnolia until gameday rolls around.
The problem with Auburn is that zoning and planning is just so horrific. To have a good nightlife, it would have to be done on Gay St. 4 Seasons Cleaners, Burger King, Community Center for the church, Random white apartments next to Mamma Gs, the random house behind Hamiltons/1716 would all need to be torn down
The owner of the former Zazu property would have to kick the bucket too

I agree with all of the above and wish a developer with deep pockets would think the same.

Unfortunately these days, the developers with deep pockets don't care too much about creating pedestrian friendly urban areas. They want to build huge apartment complexes that will have a high rate of returns. This means they have to be built cheap and fast, and this hardly ever results in a pleasant building.
It's the developers with deep pockets who are building all the super-sized apartment units.
Is that huge complex off of Glenn finished yet?

You're right, sad but true. I don't know the rules behind rezoning, but I wish the city would man up and do something about it. I'm sure they have the power to force their hands a little.

I haven't driven by in 2 weeks or so (live on Ogletree), but last I saw it was probably at 85%. It's such an impeding eye sore that towers over the road.

Anyone have the contact info for the owner? I need to book a table for eight on New Years Eve. Haven't been to the place in over 30 years. Lost a few steps in a few things but pretty sure I can handle this.
