What position coaches are out there that you would classify as elite?

Not really sure there is much to get into. His top 10 recruits are all 5*'s and he was the primary recruiter for 7 of them. Are you saying you wouldn't even put Bobo on the same level as Mason, Friend, or Zac when it comes to recruiting?
I certainly don't think he's a bad recruiter. I just talked about Bobo the other day so I'm staying away from that one for a while.

Just keeping it to names I've heard mentioned instead of a wishlist... McClendon or Tee Martin at WR (I think Wyatt might be the guy but I don't know anything about him).

As for DL the only other names we've heard are Brumbaugh and Brick Haley. I think both are better recruiters than Rocker, but I think Rocker is a better coach than Brumbaugh. Tosh Lupoi would be a homerun hire imo.

I would classify TWill as elite, but I don't think he's coming back and haven't really heard any realistic possibilities for OLB coach.

Rocker already has the D line coaching job at Auburn so it's off the board

My thoughts exactly. Great hire!! I've seen it reported as pretty much a done deal by several sources to include Rivals

Worth noting as well that along with USCe, Rocker and Bobo also worked together at UGA, and were the 2 main recruiters for Trenton Thompson.

For Auburn, Rocker is credited with bringing in both Gabe Wright and Corey Lemonier.

I'm going to bite my tongue for now. Really hope we nail the WR and OLB hires.

Tee Martin

Agree that he's an elite recruiter

McClendon

I agree with this one too, but all of his elite recruits went to UGA. Doesn't that disqualify them like with Bobo? Since UGA recruits itself and all.

Not sure I'm ready to call him elite yet.

Rocker hates recruiting but is a really good coach. The opposite of Garner. Rocker also doesn't have his DL start the year overweight, with the thought they'll lose weight during the year.

Also, convicted armed robbers Shaun Kitchens and Antonio Goodwin. Lol.

I'm not sure who we could hire for those positions that would be considered home runs by everyone.

The biggest thing that's going to help with recruiting though IMO is on the field results. Or at least showing excitement on the field this fall.

Saban and Meyer both came from outside the SEC footprint, had solid first years (8-4 for Saban at LSU, 9-3 for Meyer at UF), then took off in their 2nd year.

Although Chizik was 8-5 and then went 14-0...although he didn't have a proven track record as an HC before coming here.

Rockers DL's have produced more "pressure" then Garners but I would say Coach G's DL's play more consistently. Garner the better recruiter and more accomplished. Both are good coaches. If the hire is true I would call it a very solid hire.

We will blame Trooper, he was their position coach.

I am pumped about Rocker. He did a great job with the DLine last go around.

You couldn't ask for a much better DL coach hire. He is highly sought after amongst SEC coaches. He has recruited well and coached a ton of pros. He also has 3 seasons of NFL experience.

Great hire!

Also coached at USCe and is currently at Oregon. I still think UGA has a built in recruiting advantage that very few schools in the country have, but I think he's proven it at enough different stops now. He also has experience as OC, was recruiting coordinator at UGA for a year and currently has passing game coordinator among his duties at Oregon. To me he's basically the complete package of coach and recruiter at the WR position.

Interesting note.

His son could be the #1 draft pick in the MLB draft. He is a stud pitcher. Will be very rich...

Did Rocker also get Nick Fairley? Or was he already committed before the coaching change.

He’ll get $8ish million and then 6 years before he hits free agency where he’s making peanuts to his actual value. Still a pretty good gig. Especially if he’s still good when he reaches arb and then FA

He originally signed in 2007. Then went to Copiah-Lincoln CC. James Willis is who originally got him to sign back in 07. But he was a three-star and was definitely coached up.
