Lets get back on track with Auburn hires. It'll get lost in the back and forth. Start another thread if you want to discuss bama and I think what is being discussed is a legit conversation but lets try to keep this thread clean so we know where to go for staff hires. (Yes I contributed content that derailed some)

Trading Deandre Hopkins was incredibly stupid.

But outside of that...

BoB was great with the Patriots. BoB took over a shite show at Penn State and did pretty well. BoB won his division 4 of 7 years with the Texans.

Hard for me to say that he is a terrible coach or a bad hire.
Not just the Hopkins trade. He was a bad head coach there, maybe he will be a better at OC again, but it seemed like he had trouble relating to players.. I can very easily see bama players not liking his personality. Watson is also trying to leave now and I think he deserves the blame for that too.. he gutted that team. They should have been a playoff team and instead they we're one of the worst teams in the league. And to top it off, because BOB sucks Houston doesn't even get to keep their 3rd overall pick in the draft this year. They are going to suck for a long time because of him.

Small update on our coaching search. TWill still hasn't heard anything one way or the other (I feel like Harsin needs to decide something there).

Darrell Wyatt could end up being the WR coach, but as of now 247 isn't aware of him being contacted as of Monday afternoon.

Brumbaugh and Haley's names are still being heard in the DL search. Haley might be the favorite. PM ending the part about the DL with this "There’s no one else I feel strongly about, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is someone out there we haven’t heard about."... so who knows, but thats the update.

frick you, Corch.

WR coach: Wyatt? Insiders are saying done deal.

DL coach: Brumbaugh? Brick Haley? I think this one ends up being an out of left field hire.

OLB coach: TWill? Sounds like he may be shopping for another job or he isn't Harsin or Mason's first choice or else he would already be hired. I think this hire also comes outta left field also.

Agree about TWILL. I think there could be some kind of difference in mentality between He and Harsin but that's pure speculation on my part. Just seems if he was gonna be retained it would have already happened.

I think it is far more likely he is wanting to see if there is a program out there willing to give him a DC shot or full Lb coach gig.

TWill played in a 4-3 and has coached a 4-3/4-2-5. No one takes me seriously, but there are serious philosophical differences in a 2-gap defense versus the 1-gap we've been running. I wonder if he has the ability to teach it since he's so young, coaching-wise.

With Caddy its a little easier, unless they're coaching some sort of Alex Gibbs one cut and go stuff.

"Williams, a former All-SEC performer who helped Auburn go 13-0 in 2004, would have preferred to stay and continue coaching inside linebackers. He will stay and coach outside linebackers if asked. Whether he will be asked remains an open question." Straight from PMs article. Not saying he's a reliable source, but thats what he wrote.

If I were T-Will I’d be ready to move along. He’s proven a solid track record now so I believe he won’t have much issue landing at another P5 power.

I understand what you're saying and it makes alot of sense. Like someone said earlier I think this hire may be someone that's not on anyone's radar.

Off the subject a little Auburn Undercover has reported Kevin Steele has been named the new Tennessee Volunteer DC. I don't think Jeremy Pruitt will survive their so at Kevin's age I'd say this will be his last gig.

I stand corrected. It actually says he's been hired to join the defensive staff in a role yet to be determined

I think Phillip Marshall is about as connected as my dead grandmother these days. In hindsight it seems pretty obvious that he was always plugged-in via good-ole-boy trustees or admins and was told early on that Steele was their choice.

I pretty much agree with this. In fairness to him he said he hasn't spoken to Harsin yet. At least it gives us something to complain about on here until the hires are made though lol.

So much for that Tennessee hiring freeze that was announced last week.

Seems like he us a low paid GA type role. They are trying to leverage our buyout. I say we sue.

UNLESS the findings of their investigation end up leading to the firing of Pruitt, and then they promote Steele to HC as a cost saving measure since he's already on staff

If they fire Pruitt I think thats the move. Wouldn't be shocked to see Garner follow him there in that situation either.

I was just about say the same. Steele interviewed for that position when Pruitt was hired. Steele is a TN alum and started his career there.
