We’ve never had a homerun hire as HFC.

Even the man whose name has become synonymous with excellence in the sport (John Heisman) was unproven and unknown when we hired him.

In fact Harsin has arguably the most impressive resume, in terms of success as an OC and HC, of any HC we’ve ever hired in any major sport, short of Bruce Pearl (who was a legitimate homerun).

I agree that we probably won’t experience the “instant” success we enjoyed with Bowden, Chiz and Malzahn. I’m hoping we won’t suffer the inevitable collapse each of those guys went through after the initial highs either.

I agree he is the best hire we have made by measure of resume. I also think we might have pretty immediate success because of the talent we have and the apparent ability to develop it that he brings with him and good coaching hires. What we will need is a couple of good transfers/juco players to make it happen. There is a little buzz about the staff he is assembling that I hope carries over to recruiting immediately.

I can’t tell you how much I like being excited about Auburn football without having that nagging feeling in my head.

I don't understand how we expected a homerun hire, and based on who some of you thought were homerun hires...truly only showed they were 'possible' HR hires.

Look at some Homerun hires teams made and how it has or is going?

Harbaugh
Frost
Herman
Kiffin (has he done anything at the places he HC'd?, UT, USC?)

There is ONLY 1 Homerun hire and that is Urban Meyer. period. And then who knows how long he would stay.

So all these others are hit or miss. Just bc they have a name, doesn't mean they will be the next elite program where they are now a HC. Sarkisian? who knows.

I'll run with Harsin and hope we got us a winner in all aspects of a HC.
