We will have another QB. If we don’t protect him better then we have the past 5 years of QB that person will look the same as the rest. Running for his life.

And you again will be talking about how much better the backup is until the backup gets in and gets killed

The Oline was much improved over what it had been. It’s just when you have a QB that can’t read a defense and holds the ball forever, it makes the oline look worse than it is. PT also didn’t know how to step up in the pocket.

Could we pick up first downs on 3rd and 2 handing it off to the best running back in the league? Nope

Could we protect the QB on obvious passing downs. Nope

That’s all that matters in OL play you can either do this things or not. If you can’t you are not a good or average OL

OL wasn't stopping Thorne from hitting wide open WRs. We cant completely blame the OL here.

both the OL and PT were issues, not just one.

Most of the time, those got stopped from guys coming off the edge. The TE blocking was awful in the box and on the perimeter.

There were several times that PT had plenty of time. He just held onto the ball way too long. Also, most defensive coordinators felt comfortable blitzing him, as he never showed any reason for them not to be worried about going max coverage instead.

Was the Oline play championship worthy? Nope, but it was improved from the last couple of Gus and Haskins years.

PT had terrible throwing mechanics and threw the ball high. It's why he was so prone to INTs. During this past IB, he reverted back to his old ways. Our OL was not our problem this year. We could easily be at 9-10 wins right now.

The OL was dogshit.

PT did have enough time to throw the ball away but he ddnt always have enough time to work through progressions. Not even close.

Not at all. PT reverting back to his old ways to throw one pick out of 40.

I guarantee to you that OL missed blocks lot more than PT missed passes.

The OL graded out significantly worse vs. Bama than Thorne did. 3 of the 5 starting OL were in the Bottom-5 on PFF's grading of that game. Only Wade graded out "well".

This was also clearly reflective in the base stats. Jarquez Hunter had one ~20 yard run, but his remaining ~12 or so carries averaged less than 3 yards per carry. The OL was dominated.

And it is very easy to just load the box and overwhelm our OL if the QB doesn't make them respect the passing game. It was the gameplay vs us all year. If Thorne hits a few open guys, the D has to devote more resources on the backend.

Thorne completed 24 passes vs. Bama. You are speaking as if he went 10 for 30. Next you are going to say that the 24 passes he completed were all inconsequential, and he missed all of the actual important ones!

How many passes does he need to complete to achieve this mythical scenario where the bad OL isn't being "overwhelmed" lol? 35 passes?

Whatever man. I've seen it all at this point and Thorne is gone, and it's all circular arguments. When Thorne completes passes it is because the WR's "bailed him out". When he doesn't complete passes it is his fault, and when the OL plays like shite it is now also because he wasn't completing passes. What's next, the kicking game was shite this year because the kickers were demoralized by how few passes Throne was completing?

Looking at the end stats does not tell you the real story. He missed easy TDs early in the game that would have changed the momentum. He missed an easy third down conversation to Cam that killed us. When the game matters, he lacks the killer personality to play the position. But of course, it's the OL's fault.

This ^

The Oline was overwhelmed by numbers most of the time, 5 guys blocking 6-7 coming full steam.

Anyway, PT is gone now. It’s time for Freeze to find an upgrade at the most important position on the field.

This is the case any time anyone ever gets blitzed. AU's OL kept getting blitzed because they repeatedly showed that they get flustered and leak holes. Your starting LT couldn't even be trusted to play a snap several games into the season. The LG moved to LT, and you have guys like Bradyn Joiner being thrown into the starting lineup. Izavion Miller was also a massive bust.
