If I were going by the names instead of recent history, I'd agree we'd win 8 games but I dont. So where do you think our 8 wins come from?

I'm making an assumption about our defense staying at the same level of performance as this year AND getting competent offensive play.
Baylor @ ATL - Baylor is losing a lot of talent - W
Southern Miss @home - W
JSU @home - W
Bama @away - Auburn has found ways to lose to Alabama and I will continue to believe we will until proven otherwise - L
Arkansas @home - Arkansas was somehow even worse than we were this year - W
UF @home - major underachieving at UF right now but this is still a toss-up to me - W
LSU @home - unfortunately Kiffin will have them humming I think - L
Vandy @home - curious to see how Vandy is without Pavia, not anything special - W
UGA @away - same as Alabama above - L
MSU @away - also somehow worse than us this year - W
Ole Miss @away - not sure how this will pan out but I think Ole Miss flounders a bit next year - W
Tenn @away - Tenn seems to have a good offense every year and it's away - L

I'm so pissed that I can't myself to disagree with this. The last three years have ruined me.

Thats the logical expectations, but we know Auburn football isn't logical

3-0 ooc
uga is legit the only auto loss
Bama - they're reeling and I don't see them ever being an Uber team under deboer. Ty is gone and they either have grubb again next year or they're breaking in a new oc.
Arkansas - dub
Florida - if you dont have this as a coin flip at worst you're negging too hard. Brown already beat them with a gaggle of 3 stars. Our guys are worth prob 2 more tds. Dub
LSU - I'll call this an L rn but they went through alot this offseason. Probably means nothing but could mean everything.
Vandy - Diego is gone. They'll prob be solid but if they're starting the true frosh I'm calling a dub
Uga - L
Msu - dub
Ole Miss - they're undoubtedly taking a step back so dub
Tennessee - is Huepel a good coach or not? Was Golesh the secret sauce? What can you point to about UT rn that spells auto loss for us next year? I got nothing. I do think Huepel is a good coach personally and Aguilar is probably coming back next year so their offense could get better but they have plenty of question marks on defense. I'd probably pencil in an L but if we go into the game with a huge delta on defense in our favor, I like our chances.
Dubs
3 ooc
Arky
Ole miss
Msu
UF
7 wins is the absolute floor
Toss ups
LSU
Bama
UT
Vandy
I feel the odds of all of these teams being playoff contenders next year are very low so I gotta think we sneak at least 1 so that puts us at 8 right there
Auto loss
UGA
Absolute floor with Brown is your ceiling. And if Golesh's offense can be as good in the SEC with Brown as it was in the SEC with Hendon Hooker paired with DJ's defense, top 10 o's with top 25 d's typically win alot of games, our ceiling is made of glass.
Some might call it sunshine pumping, I'd call it just looking at things, albeit optimistic, but also objective. The logic is there and it helps paint a pretty clear picture.

Completely reasonable breakdown. And at the same time I dont think it's hard to see LSU, bama and UT flipping the other way.
The schedules not as brutal as it looked when it first came out.

Not sure that’s an accurate assessment of what would happen and yes I would’ve glad to bring Brown in and see what could happen.

With my O&B glasses on I'd would agree with this. But the last 5 years have broken them. UF got the coach that we thought was the answer for us. So I can't give us that win.
Vandy won't be the same without Pavia but he gave that program a confidence that we haven't had since 2019. I'm leaning towards a W but not sure.
Ole Miss even without LK so be a tough out. I gotta see it first.

I could be sold on most of this take. But it's hard for me to give UF the dub with them getting the coach we thought was our answer. That coach also got his team to the playoffs this year.
This is my issue. I'm sure Brown is good enough to get us at least 7 wins. But I think Deuce gets us at least 6-7 wins too and we have the NIL to keep him here for multiple years. Getting Brown may already be a forgone conclusion. But if we lose Deuce in the process, we're back to QB portal hopping for the next few years.

ETA JMU info
ET correct TT info
In CFB, most QBs are going to leave IF they are not the starter after their second spring practice.
Deuce could earn 3 years as a starter after 2026 season at Auburn IF he stays.
I doubt many teams will have a year where they don’t lose or gain a QB from the portal. The position just does not lend itself to more than one guy getting meaningful playing time.
Portal QB will almost be a permanent position in the CFB landscape.
Playoff teams with portal QBs:
Indiana
Ohio State
Ole Miss
Miami(transferred from a CFP team!)
Oklahoma
Oregon
Tulane
JMU.
Texas Tech, Alabama, Texas A&M, and UGA have HS recruited guys.

I get that. And I also havent taken them hiring Buster Faulkner into the equation yet. This could be, maybe even probably is, more of a toss up.
UF is my dad's team and I grew up pulling for them too in the Tebow days and ive been so stoked on Golesh I havent had time to get stoked for them too. If BF can do with Lagway what he did with Haynes King UF could be a dark horse to straight up win the whole thing.

But if we lose Deuce in the process, we're back to QB portal hopping for the next few years.
Let's look at the playoff teams qbs
IU - portal (playoffs 2 years in a row with a portal qb)
OSU - portal, young guy but still portal (portal guy last year too)
Oregon - portal (they been portalin)
UGA - homegrown
TT - homegrown
Ole miss - portal
Tamu - homegrown
OU - portal
Bama - homegrown
Miami - portal U
Tulane - portal
JMU - who gives a shite
Over half of the playoff field has portal qbs and 3/4 teams that were there last year had portal qbs last year and have another different portal qb this year. I'd understand the worry if there wasnt an established track record of success for hitting the portal year after year for a qb.
Now if you just wanna worry that Auburns gonna Auburn, I can empathize with that.
Golesh legit feels like a shift in the paradigm tho.
ETA: I even got some back up on this

It's the "and?" that worries me. But from your fingers to God's inbox my guy! I mean we've got to get this thing right sooner or later.

I don’t see the hype in him as an OC. GT scored fewer points vs thUGA than an Auburn led team of Freeze and Arnold.

Unless Golesh can get his hands on a better qb but how many are realistically gonna be better than a guy that's already performed at a high level in your system and has been doing it for 3 years now?

If we bring him in, either the defense or he will have to severely underachieve next season for us to only have 7 wins. This were talking 4k yards of production calling the shots next season. Brown is his QB so Im gonna assume he has then sense of a pickle and brings him to Auburn.
I hope Deuce is as good as some of yall say. But I wouldnt bet next season hed have us in a bowl

I would love Brown, but I am not counting on him until he takes his first snap. A lot of teams will be looking for portal qb. I would think we have an edge, but I also thought if a guy got AU tattooed on his body we would have an edge as well.
Yes but not many big name teams are looking for a dual threat guy like that. I doubt he would work @ Texas, Bama, UGA etc.
