Good question. Were we overpaying? Did new staff not value them? Seems like gross mismanagement to not lock down at least 5 or 6 of them even if you aren’t in love with their potential. Are you going to portal 10 new guys?
I’m also frustrated that our portaling efforts appear to be completely serial, grinding for one transfer at a time. Every position room should vigorously recruiting in parallel, signing 3 or 4 guys a day. I don’t get it. Time is running out and the current pace won’t get it done.

The program is in an irreparable state with the leadership and financial mindset at hand. Get used to being looked at as a blood bag for the parasites at AU to drain

Time isn’t running out. Anyone in the portal can sign anytime between now and fall semester of next year. Get the right guys not the first guys.

Were we overpaying?

Can anyone tell me why we have lost every single OL to the portal?
Most of the starters have ran out of eligibility, Chaplain just left. Too tall is returning right? 5 incoming freshmen. 3 Olinemen signed from the portal, so far.

I was specifically talking about OL. Were we overpaying Dylan Senda or Tyler Johnson? Why did they leave? We have plenty of space to keep them. Maybe it’s as simple as they wanted to start somewhere.

I don’t know about Senda, but Johnson hit the portal like 20 minutes after we got the JMU kid. Either he chickened out from competition, or he was told his spot was gone. I still expect 2 more OTs to sign.

IU has been damn impressive these last two weeks. I’d love to have that brand of football at Auburn.

AU FB doesn’t have a killer instinct … it’s a loser program until it earns the respect of the fanbase.. garbage for 5 years

Every coach in America should be looking at their dick questioning whether they measure up.

Everyone keeps bringing up the Cig and Indiana. Sure they are the measuring stick now, at least this season, but I’ve got news for you - they are the exception not the rule. I hope we aim that high, but I think it is unrealistic to 100% expect the same level of turnaround in just two years.

Mendoza just played a full football game and isn't even sweating. His hair is still.perfect. Indiana makes it look too easy.
I think Indiana has given coaches a new blueprint. They aren't winning with talent, but experience. They have a bunch of mid 20's guys starting. I think 5 of their starters are in their 7th year.

That’s why we have fired 3 coaches in 6 years. It’s not like the administration isn’t trying. I’m all for blaming coaches but at some point players have to take the bull by the horns as well. We are at the point that the coaches have to do their job. Players have to be dedicated to winning, not how much NIL or what they are doing after games.
We need brutal offseason strength and conditioning. Never heard 1 player complain about workouts the past 5 years. Hell we had some DBs and WRs going bowling at like 10pm during fall camp. I know the coaches are limited to 1 a days but those days in the summer heat should be miserable. No one has complained about blisters on their feet from so much sweat. No slightly sore arms by the QBs throwing so much. No tackling. For fricks sake tackle every practice in the spring and the first week of fall then you can go thud. These kids aren’t mature enough to know how to get themselves ready like like pro players.
Gritty hard nosed physical violent football is what has always won and will always win. Our teams must at a minimum be physical with every team. It’s literally the difference in winning and losing at its core. Auburn has always been known for physical hard nosed defense and power football running game. You can be all that in today’s game in the spread in a pro set, power I, option whatever offense you run. I’m not ok with losing but the players are or have been. That is why we are where we are. Maybe that changes but now I need to be shown we are going to play Auburn football again. I don’t care who or how many 5 stars are on the roster or what QB or Edge rusher. It takes 100 guys all working together for greatness.
Rant off

I agree to an extent. I think when you’re as detail oriented and prefer production over projection you get where they are or close to it. They have shown there’s more than one way to do it for sure.

Maybe. I would like to see lab results on blood test for their players. I’m not saying they are cheating but for their size they are very strong. They can go harder longer.
Just sayin.
I remember a little ol team in eastern Alabama in the 80’s that had been average for almost 30 years outside of a guy name Sullivan at QB that came out of nowhere to completely dominate the SEC and the nation for 7-8 years. I know they put in that hard work but I also know they were juiced. Same as another team that dominated with almost no “talent” that used the moniker “Husker Power”. Juiced up.
