Personally, I am more than happy to keep a returning QB in Payton Thorne over most any other QB I have seen in the portal. All QB issues (Robby), hope Holden stays and we ride with some better receivers, still a decent O-line, hopefully returning backfield, and Payton in year 2. He has guts, he can run, he can pass. I'd rather us pour our effort into him than try to find another one and done. He can produce. His jump from this shitshow of a year, to the end of the season, to next year should be substantial. He has the tools. He needs help and a 2nd year, then Holden and WW and maybe another QB can start battling it out.

Probably the most likely outcome even if we do bring in a portal player. Year 2 in the system with presumably better WR play. I’m for it.

Just to be clear the transfer portal isn't open open until next Monday, Dec 4th. That's when you'll get the real confirms starting.

I don't think it is completely out of the question that KJ Jefferson is at least talked to by the staff, I heard his name floated last month, but I thought he was out of eligibility.
It's more about the money ND is throwing around than system fit.

KJ to South Carolina was a done deal until Arky hired Petrino. KJ wants to have a meeting before with him before he makes a decision. In any case, it’s Arky or SCar for KJ.

Correct. Players names can’t be entered in the portal until 4 December but it’s not stopping players from posting on social media that they are entering the portal.
