Why pay for another average QB.
Because we didn’t even get average QB play for most of the year. Average play would be a big improvement.

Let me know if you want to keep this thread for your whiny pissing matches. It can be arranged.

I agree, but I see Jang's point. If we aren't getting a top shelf transfer QB, Thorne will probably be the guy and spending that coin on the surrounding cast will prop Thorne up to average/decent.
Decent can win big with talent surrounding him.
These are exciting times, enjoy the possibilities now.

Good deal.

He was still a colossal improvement over ashford hence why Ashford is gone. Receivers also need to learn how to catch the ball. Improvement is needed across the board.

The stats nor the results back up your claim.

This is my problem.
Thorne improved throughout the year. He got to where we could somewhat stomach his play. Everyone assumes he keeps improving but these things aren’t always linear.
So what happens if he regresses? What happens if he gets hurt? Don’t tell me Grenier because he can’t even beat out Robby apparently.

Ok and what does that get us?

Hopefully higher wins than this year.
Gotta keep trajectory up.

So what happens if he regresses?
2021: 3,240 yards
2022: 2,679 yards
2023: 1,671 yards
I’m seeing a trend, and it’s not good.

A steady reliable QB who had 28 drops last year along with countless offensive penalties.
Portal QB’s are currently going for 2M! Coach can concentrate on DB’s, DL, OL and spend the $$$ there. If the market comes down perhaps Coach will make a move. If not, $$$ well spent. Team will be young next year. Invest wisely. Coach is.

He needs to graduate first, I think.

All other factors are not equal.
He went from Coleman and a better line to worse and worst. He also joined an Auburn club that was already rocking a two P5 game streak of less than 100 passing yards. So he inherited a mess as well.
Lastly, your stats dont factor in an explosion of rushing yards as he never ran for 200 in Michigan.
I am less concerned about the trend and think if his help improves around him he can get closer to 2021 stats.

He had everyone but the RB in 2022. He also went 5-7 and lost his starting job.

Does anyone know whether he is graduating after this semester or after the spring semester?

Thorne has almost 9,000 yards from scrimmage in his career… 8,200 passing and about 800 rushing… and 73 total TDs…. all at the P5 level.
Pretty crazy.
Pretty crazy.
