Your point is valid, but our knack for not ever showing up against them in a concern, IMO. Other than the Petrino years, Arkansas has never really been all that good, and I think our mindset has been, "It's Arkansas. We'll win."

Maybe I'm making too much of it, but I always get a knot in my stomach when Arkansas rolls around on the schedule simply because we should be beating them and we usually don't.

Ordinarily, I would agree. But there's something about this team that sets my mind at ease in games that we should win.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I don't see this year's squad coming out flat against anyone. Combination of the disaster last year (and its precursor in '11) and the fact that Gustav and staff have them playing as a team instead of a group of talented individuals who happen to wear the same color jerseys.

This team is beginning to remind me of some of my favorite AU seasons - '72, '83, '93, and '04. The hallmark of those four years was that we improved as the year progressed, never got rattled when we fell behind, and took even the weakest opponents seriously. I think we'll see more of that this Saturday, and will handle the Hawgs convincingly.

I don't think there is anything about Arky that makes us underperform

It was the end of the Tuberville and all of Chizik era that we were losing to subpar teams like Arkansas (not to mention USF, MSU, etc)

Gus' team is pretty clearly different from those teams

We lost twice to BP and then Tubs lost in 2008 when we sucked bad.

2006 was an anomoly of good play by McFadden and calling by...Gus.

I think Bert's tenure at Arkansas is going to help our record against the hogs.

They were a legitimately good team in 2006. It's not nearly as some of the other losses.
