What do y'all think would happen here if there were an incident like the one at Mizzou with the players going on strike? I'm genuinely curious.

I'm guessing there wouldn't be all this asinine backlash. I hope anyway

He did nothing, that's why he resigned. I'm guessing there were incidents that occurred on campus and he didn't react in a manner that was satisfactory with the minorities. It's a really sad situation. Sets a really terrible precedent.

Isolated unverified incidents of racist activities occurred on campus. Liberal tard started a hunger strike over it because he didn't like the presidents reaction. Football team joins in. President states he won't resign over this. Outrage grows. President resigns, students stomp the yard to celebrate ruining a mans career and eradicating racism forever.

This story confuses me. Surely there had to be more incidents than the ones that are cited to cause this much of a ruckus.

From what I understand, what they're officially protesting are 3 events (only 2 confirmed) that happened in the last 90 days. 2 instances of someone calling a black person the N word (only one confirmed) and a student in the dorms drawing a swastika on a bathroom floor in feces. At their homecoming parade, a bunch of students in the "Concerned Student 1950" group blocked the University President's car demanding that he say/do something about it and he wouldn't acknowledge them.

The players went on strike "on concern for the student Jonathan Butler" who has been on hunger strike since last Monday demanding the resignation of the university president.

There's a Mizzou poster in the main thread on the MSB saying that it has to do with some welfare funding for grad students being cut/reduced by the university.

From another poster on a thread in the Mizzou board:

I support the school. I don't support a radical promoting racial division and intent on white shaming because he's pissed about planned parenthood and grad worker insurance subsidies.

Its amazing to me how its always the activists and protesters that "find" these swastikas and nooses on their campuses.

Coincidence?

I deal with the public every day, so I understand their stupidity, but doing a hunger strike over a shite swastika and 2 name calling incidents? If the university and it's administration had a track record of racism I could understand.

A couple of things.

Not all the football players are for this.
Missouri player says many on team don't support practice boycott
LINK

As far as the unconfirmed incidents, things like this are happening more and more. In the last few months there was an incident at Ga Tech where I believe a minority co-ed reported racism, but security footage didn't back up the allegation. Of course no one pays as much attention when the evidence comes out and the damage is already done.

I've read that too, but unfortunately Pinkle made the decision for them from the look/sound of it.

Sounds like the president showed poor leadership and ignored what was a serious issue to a large portion of his students.

You may not think it's an issue, and it may not be meritorious, but it was to a lot of people. So, not taking appropriate action is poor leadership.

What could he have done though?

And have you seen the list of demands from the group? It's absurd.

After the fact, he announced the establishment of some panel to deal with incidents like this. I'm guessing if he had done this before the football players went on strike, it would have curtailed a lot of the protests. He didn't get out in front of the situation at all, and as a result it cost him his job.

Just a guess again, but it sounds like the list was outrageous because they didn't have any trust in him. I doubt all there demands will be met, and they'll return to practice.

They've already announced that they're returning to practice tomorrow.

That list of demands is what made me lose sympathy for the group. I understand wanting to change the culture, but people try to take things to the extreme and end up accomplishing nothing.
