There is nothing that affects the on field product more than the acquisition of talent through recruiting in my opinion. I did mention several times that they have a right to not contribute financially, but I'm just shocked and sometimes confused when people complain but don't want to impact the thing they seem to care so much about. Some people made excellent points about money mismanagement or simply not being able to even spare a dime, but showing passion without action isn't something (I) can get behind. I'm not talking to anyone who went to Auburn, or put a kid through school, or has given thousands already and is simply refusing to contribute any further. It's like wanting abs or a great body, but refusing to exercise or even use performance enhancements. Just wishing for better results doesn't work.

Was one of the main points I was trying to make with Corch a few weeks back and with Jang today. It’s silly. You are not special to the program because you decided to send them money.
I’m not even saying that NIL is not necessary right now. It is.
I’m just saying Auburn needs to make that money other than having fans pay it in any kind of direct way.
If fans who do not pay NIL can not express their views because they don’t pony up, then the message boards are going to be very quiet.
I honestly could not imagine paying Auburn a monthly fee to buy players. Even the thought of it is insane to me. It that is probably just me.

Well you just eliminated a majority of the board so…

The problem is the rules.
Auburn can’t directly fund any of this. NCAA needs to restructure NIL.

I disagree. Lanier is complaining about recruiting but scoffs at NIL even while knowing its impact on recruiting. That is unfair to Hugh and Bruce. If Lanier isnt doing the necessary things then I dont think he has much room to complain.
Those that donate for recruiting purposes they have more room to complain.

I get what you're saying, but what big fish is auburn landing thanks to your 400 bucks a year?

There lies the issue with your thinking.
I think we need two of every thread on this board. One for the guys who feel they are buying the players and those who dont.
What is the use of discussion anything on here if it is eventually going to come back to "You dont pay, you should shut up"
I honestly dont think you know the impact of what you are saying. You will eventually , just not now.
And personally, I hope your $34 a month is going directly to Peyton Thornes banking account

Whether you believe someone has more rights or not due to contributing, you cannot control the conversation or opinions on this board. It’s a moot point.

Well its not so much that you dont pay it is that your beliefs conflict with your own recruiting interest.

You say that even though we didnt get Leary and others because of NIL. So you can have Thorne yourself.

Thats dumb. We know why players go and stay where they do. We literally lost to a pure NIL Miami team in March Madness.

Lanier has weirdly said twice now that people that do NLI should have their own thread. That started this discussion as a matter of fact. So you telling the wrong guy.

He’s saying following your logic, that’s where you end up.

College football segregation wasn't my logic. He responded to someone else about that. I am not segregating anybody. Just calling him a freerider that does nothing but complain. Lanier has no neck, and no sweat equity into Auburn. His opinion is trash.
My own logic is dont bring up Texas State if youre not helping first year HC's cause.
Lanier might as well be the softball mom that complains about shitty season but gawks at the suggestion of bringing the daughter to extra practices.

That’s just as dumb as people giving shite to those who choose not to NIL.
I didn’t go back that far in the argument.
I think people should choose as they wish and not make a thing out of either choice. People can choose to contribute to Auburn as they see fit for themselves. Whether that’s time, money, or both.

He doesn’t understand the point I was trying to make because he is just trying to turn it into a bitch fest. Just slinging mud anyway he can.
He can’t have a discussion without it. My point was very simple.
And I’ve said if NIL is here to stay and I agree it is something Auburn will need to address. I’m just saying those funds should not be asked to come from normal fans. It is honestly a simple point I am saying.
And once Rocky sends me his sticker to out in my Yeti, it will be over with because I will just tell people I contribute.

I dont know if you have some sort of inside info but I dont think that you do. How do you know the only reason we lost Leary was NIL? 80% of the stuff tou read or hear on these sites is bs. Besides we obviously have NIL money so maybe if QB was such an issue more should have been allocated there.
As for the Miami comment, what does that even mean? We were a much higher seed with much better top end talent so where did NIL play a role in that failure?

You are the bitch fest bro. You are Texas State and anti- NIL. Thats all you. You bitch about everything. We have a first year HC scrambling to field a team and the fact you are even complaining about Texas State is absurd.

No one is telling anyone to specifically donate. If you want to compete in this market the fans have to step up. I have clearly stated I don’t like what college football has become and I don’t like amateur athletes getting paid in any form. But here we are. I am also not saying someone that doesn’t donate shouldn’t express how they feel about recruiting or on the field results which the former directly affects the latter but don’t have the expectation if you don’t expect it of yourself.
I didn’t go to AU. I have a son at AU now. Have another choosing between Bama and AU in the next few months. His choice. So I have spent as much as anyone that graduated prior to 2000. Sidewalk fan or not. I would say that just in the state we have at least 250,000 die hard fans. If those gave $100 a year. That’s $25 million. The current rate that is a top 5 class every year. How much do you want to win games and championships. That’s the bottom line question. 4000 donors won’t affect the bottom line. That’s why there needs to be thousands upon thousands giving.
Just my take on it.
