You do realize you are knighting for a three star bum that has already entered the portal once dont you?

Corch, I know that you know of some local legends around your area, but local legends dont often do well in the best conference in the highest division. And that goes for all local legends throughout the United States. I cannot remember the name of the local runningback you kept pimping to the board that sucks and should never have a role past "fire up our band" back against Louisiana Monroe.

Corch, I want better talent than that. Please stop pimping trash to the board. During the Gus years when average recruit rating was high, people pimped the high average recruit rating as they should. Well when the average rating is low you dont just get to say recruiting sites suck.That recruit rating stil matters.

Who the hell is DJ Barber? He committed to us and that is great and all, but he is the number 59 linebacker according to ON3. Players like him often fill the Chattanooga rosters every season. Sure he could be special, but does not seem likely.

I, for one, think recruiting analysts are barking up the right tree. The teams that do amazing have highly rated athletes. And we can and will get back to having better classes.

But until then, stop with the Kevin Greene arguments. They are bullshite and you have been on here long enough to know many here also think that is bullshite.

Some rambling thoughts:

I like DJ Barber, but we struggle with managing expectations on this board. Not everyone starts or even contributes. He doesn’t need to be an all-SEC caliber player in order to help our team.

I do agree with Corch, even if he might be hypocritical (not saying he is, I don’t care enough to verify). We write guys off too early quite often. Fine by me, that’s what these boards are for.

No clue if Powell Gordon ever plays for us. It seems like he’s only back because a spot unexpectedly opened back up for him. I’d guess he enters the portal again too since he’s a Harsin guy without a natural position in the current defense.

Powell Gordon didn’t generate much interest in the transfer market. He didn’t have good offers out of HS. A little different from Barber in that regard, despite similarities in rankings

One frustrating thing about rankings is that they sometimes don’t align with the offers. If there’s ever debate about someone’s rankings I tend to look at the offer sheet. It’s not that common but another guy that gets a red flag with the offers/ranking disparity is Malcolm Simmons. 4* guy with a low 3* offer list right now

It isnt even about hypocrisy its the fact the usual fanboys will fanboy no matter what and they will pick the narrative on the fly. Constant discussions about star gazing in the recruiting threads every single year. Nothing is new.

Take a great look at the 2021 recruiting class. The Kevin Greene argument could have been used for 90 percent of those signees and Jarquez was literally the only signee out of 18 where the Kevin Greene argument struck. Auburn isnt going to ever do shite hoping and praying and striking every 1 out of 18.

I’m not knighting for Gordon I’ve never met the kid and literally know nothing about him other then his high school highlights.

My entire point was to point out no one hates Auburn players quite like Auburn fans. No one on here has seen the kid play a down but they are sure he shouldn’t and won’t ever see the field. I like DJ barber was just using a recruit from this season that was rated below powell Gordon. I’ll do like Chex and find the Hudl for blocton barber and gordon and someone tell me the differences they see in quality of play.

Kiffin’s class is loaded with dogshit. Can’t remember what I said last week, but he’s got nearly 10 guys ranked BEHIND DJ Barber, our lowest ranked recruit

I saw on one of the of the paysite boards that the average recruit rating for Freeze’s class right now is top 5-ish on 247 and Rivals, and #11 for On3

In that regard, the recruiting is way better. Making the whole Kiffin vs Freeze recruiting thing that you or whoever else keeps bringing up pretty stupid. Freeze even out-recruited Kiffin in the portal

I’ve been highly critical of Freeze for years. It’s OK to point out what’s actually happening and not just what aligns with your feelings

This is what I posted about Blocton and Barber. So don’t bring some bullshite what I said argument in to this and misquote me.

Very nice addition. OL and DL are where it’s at. He may never be all sec but he will be a solid hungry player for us. I’m todays game you need yo be solid 3 deep at each DL position just yo get started to have a good defense...

Also congrats to the coaches on landing Barber. He’s at the top or very close to the top of their list. He’s a tackling machine as well...
