JJ played in one half last season. Arky game planned for a run game based on last year's playbook. We countered that by passing the ball against a weak secondary.

Also Nick Marshall was not the issue last season.

Take a Xanax, have some boxed wine, and chill Brannigan.

I was just speculating. Never said that NM was the problem. But at the end of last season I remember several people trying to jump on the JJ train already. Imagine how it would of been if people thought JJ could run 3/4 as well as NM.

Now I'm not saying NM shouldn't of been the starter. He took us to the NC game and SEC Champ last year. He wasn't an issue IMO. I just think Gus tried no to call any running plays for JJ when he was in on purpose. Either to keep that skill set hidden for this year or to keep fans from creating a divide in the team.

I agree with first sentence but not the 2nd. I think main reason he didn't want to run JJ was because we needed him healthy just in case Nick Marshall went down. We were going to run Nick all season & had already seen he gets a little banged up so why risk your only solid option as a backup. Also Arkansas was playing a crap ton of guys in the box so the passing lanes were there.

I think you are way over thinking it. Gus would be a bad play caller if he worried what the fan reaction would be to how well someone is doing. We leaned on JJ's strength & what the defense was giving us which was the passing game

Exactly. Arkansas completely sold out against the run, and Gus countered by going to the air with Johnson. It's that simple.

Today I heard he needed a good teeth cleaning.......then needed to stop by the Walmark for some of this and that, so I wouldn't worry quite yet.

Time to melt...

Nah, he was there with the 1st team.

Sophomore cornerback Stephen Roberts stood on the sideline with freshmen and newcomers for the second consecutive day. He did not participate in the early portion of drills.

Receiver Jonathan Wallace stood on the sideline without his helmet.

The first-team receivers were D'haquille Williams, Ricardo Louis, Tony Stevens and Jason Smith.

Newcomer Blake Countess was working at outside corner.

Former Auburn coach Pat Dye attended practice and was conversing with newcomers, including defensive end Byron Cowart, early during the workout.
