What is the general consensus if this is true?

Steele is not a bad coach, contrary to what spoiled LSU fans will tell you. He worked with one of their youngest defenses in a while this season and still finished in the top half of the league in defense. Also held Texas Tech 20 points lower than their season average in the bowl game. Great recruiter. We could have done better, but still a pretty solid hire.

Underwhelming hire if true, but certainly no worse than Roof, Grantham, or most of the other names being bandied about. And let's face it, the DC really doesn't matter if Gustav doesn't get the offense on track.

Of course it would not be a home-run hire, but I don't think any of us expected that. Steele would probably could keep the scheme and terminology close to what we have now as he is from the same coaching tree. I do think it is an upgrade over promoting Thompson, but we will be paying for that upgrade.

If we got him at a bargain, not a complete melt. If we pay ridiculous $ for him, we should have just let Thompson have it.

Where did this come from? I'm assuming him and lance might be Co- DCs.. This is really bizarre and I have no idea what to feel and think.

Grantham has never fielded defenses as bad as Steele

Grantham put up decent numbers. He just gets a bad rep because UGA couldn't do anything meaningful under Richt. Even the year he left UGA they finished 45th. We seem to stay in the 90 range.

I don't believe in done deals. If deals were really done deals, JJ would have been out as ad weeks ago.
