Breaking: Anonymous source inside Auburn's AD has indicated Auburn Football Head Coach Gus Malzahn used personal funds to pay for a confidential meeting last week between himself, Bill Parcels, and Tom Landry Jr discussing best ways to expand and utilize "coaching trees." The meeting was reportedly held at "Area 34," a small, high security, limited access, highly secretive compound in a remote area south of Hurtsboro, AL, whose existence was only revealed a few days ago and where Malzahn has apparently been conducting business in seclusion out of the public eye.

The source, one of our fifteen inside the program, stated it is possible that this is the same location used in recent weeks to hold interviews for the open Defensive Coordinator position, codenamed Operation Endangered Nest. Malzahn is expected to name a new coordinator by the end of the week. Coach Malzahn could not be reached for comment.

Rocky got it because he's a boss.

His posts shall not be questioned and there shall be no rebuttals of his arguments. He is the wise man of the Plains and carries with him the protection of Wade Christopher. If he informs you your opinion or insight on the impending DC hire is wrong or of the 'hopeless outlook' tone, cease and desist.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

I am. Also starting to get tired of this deployment, especially missing the holidays and all. Long days.

As far as DC goes, I will be disappointed with Roof just because I want some fresh blood. Diaz seems like the best choice, think we could lure him with money, but I am not informed on the scheme he runs. Grantham, we all know the facts, but if we went with him I think the best thing he would bring is some tenacity. I would take Allen just to see what he's got and I think he could be a good one with the players we have. I'll be interested to see how LT does in the bowl game and how the players respond to him against a team like Memphis.

At this point though I almost don't give a frick who the DC is anymore. None of us want to lose recruits or lose the interest of those left on our wish list, we all want some aggressiveness in the front 7, but like Jones said, nothing any of us can do anything about it.

Just read some poster heard Bryan Matthews on the radio, and he thinks it will be Roof.
I hope he is wrong!

Roof isn't the worst hire, I just would have prefered to not be embarrassed and delayed this long to get someone who is just average

I agree. He could have hired Roof two weeks ago if he is the one.

I just don't see why anyone would want Roof, a guy who has a mediocre resume and was let go his last stint here.

Bring back Chiz.... His UNC defense has given up over 625 yards rushing to Baylor...

Broke all the bowl records by 100 yards

If we hire Roof, and I turn on the first game next year and see 10 yard CB cushions, I'll quit.

I would rather have LT coach a good bowl game and get promoted than rehiring Roof. We are to the point if it isn't big name it's embarrassing.

Barring a late snag, it looks like LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele is headed to Auburn for the same position.
