Worth the risk, IMO. But honestly, if we were going with inexperience I would have just promoted Thompson.

He doesn't bring anything to the table, IMO. LT can recruit, which could offset his lack of experiance. I am afraid we will be looking for a new HC this time next year. I hope I am wrong, but anyone who is excited over this hire is one hell of a homer.

The good news is we will have another season to judge Jeff Brohm.

Allen will be a good hire for our current situation. I think he'll only be around for a year though, but shouldn't have trouble finding work after next season.

Allen is the one that started the 'land shark' thing at Ole Miss. He did the same at USF as the 'bullsharks'.
Guys, I think he will be a great hire. He really improved USF this season. Don't let last night's game against the #1 offense in the country discourage you. Keep in mind also that LSU gave up 400 yds to WKU.
Be realistic, I know it's hard for the board at times.

I've been a naysayer on Gus stuff, but I'm pleased with this hire.
Allen was well liked at Ole Miss, with a record of success there. Went to USF and oversaw immediate improvements without the benefit of staff choices or significant recruiting time.

He's not a bad hire. But there's much digging to do in order to find reasons to get excited. I'm past the point in my fandom where I expect to be impressed with hires. Just win.
Also, will we be the tiger sharks when he arrives? Will our defensive players dye blue fins into their hair?

Well that's a little exaggerated.
He improved the USF defense greatly in one year. They only had 6 returning starters this year too. It shows he can coach.

Reading the USF board they sure don't sound like they have heard anything about him leaving. Are we sure that he is the one or are we being trolled? I am not against the hire if it does happen but watching the USF defense yesterday I was like meh. Their defense looked similar to what I have seen in Auburns defenses over the past few years. I was concerned about the tackling. Ole Miss fans seem to think highly of him.
