I asked the OM fans on the rant, so far all speak highly of him.

Nothing against him, just think we need a similar defensive scheme to build stability. It is nuts all the different DC's the Auburn players have gone through.

We have been recruiting for a 4-2-5 two out of the last three years. Our guys had to learn Muschamp's D. They had been working in a 4-2-5 previously.

Agreed on similar defensive scheme but wonder if Gus makes him and Lance co-defensive coordinators and what that does

We need stability across the board with the coaching staff. People really need to shut the frick up about firing Malzahn and get behind him and at least let him finish his contract. If he loses the team so be it and let's part ways. He is a young coach and will make mistakes trying to figure shite out, if he learns from his mistakes then he could be a great coach over the long run.
As for the DC spot that is open, why would anyone think that a big time DC would choose us over another school when the majority of the fanbase wants the HC gone? We need to just let it play out, find a guy that can coach and get the defense serviceable at this point and get the offense back on track.

I still think Gus turns it around. He has had one bad offensive year, I personally think that will be the exception, not the rule.
The big thing for me though, is to win against the best in the SEC we need an above average defense. I just hate to see the constant change up. It is a lot to put on the defensive players. The constant recruiting of different types of players for the "system" is one of the reasons we struggle now, imo. We got a good crop of freshman last year who now have playing experience. I would just rather see them promote Lance to keep it consistent at this point.

If you think about it, we've had constant change at D coordinator going all the way back to the Tubs years. Seemed like they only lasted a season or two even then. Chiz was there a year as was Champ, Gibbs, and Rhoades. I can't recall who else he had but he coached at AU for 10 years and I just rattled four off the top of my head.

I don't think people really understand how new HCing is to Gus because of his immediate success. They act like we have an experienced coach that's been doing this for decades.

Because we pay him like he has been.

Since Tater Tot fired Wayne Hall no DC has a longer tenure than three years at Auburn.

Honest question though, how many were fired or told to look elsewhere?
Wayne Hall?
Oliver - 96-98
Lovitt - 99-01
Chizik - 02-04
Gibbs - 05
Muschamp - 06-07
Rhoads - 08
Roof - 09-11
Van Gorder - 12
Johnson - 13-14
Muschamp - 15
We had four that were there just one year.

Wow.
And we wonder why the defense has been so bad.

Muschamp runs a 4-2-5 a hell of a lot
"Nickel corner" sure seems like a coincidence being a value of 5 like a 4-2-5

David Gibbs is at Texas Tech. I sat we go hire him.

Hell naw. If he is the best that we can get, we have sunken to an all time low. Looks like no one wants to come to this shitshow. Hire Lance and be done with it.
