That is true. If he could get that 2010 to 2016 thing down, that would be great. His later years at aTm are more likely though. Like Freeze, he'd still be coaching based on what worked for him back in the day that DCs figured out years ago.

Jimbos record is not terrible. It's how unorganized and how he leaves every program that is a problem.
He is basically a more accomplished version of the coach we just fired. A recruiter with an outdated offense that he refuses to move away from. Its literally carbon-copy Freeze - up to the label of being a former QB guru who's most recent teams had multiple QB's who all failed.

What would be the response from the fan base if we hired Jimbo Fisher? I'm hearing things ..
Would be very unhappy. Dude had a blank check at A&M and failed. Nothing indicates he would do any differently here. Would be foolish to hire someone that shown they couldn't do what we need them to be able to do when they have the resources.

If we are going for a retread, I'd rather keep DJ and give him the cash to hire an elite OC. We have a nice soft landing with DJ if we miss on a big fish.

Name I haven't heard yet, but what about Demeco Ryans?
Why would he leave an NFL head coach gig?

Why not?
Because he's halfway through his contract at $4.8M a year?
Offer him a 5 year $35m deal.
At least kick the tires.

NFL guys are really hard to pull away, especially when they’re a HC. They deal with much less bullshite than college coaches.
If they’re going to go after an NFL guy, Joe Brady would be a guy to look at. I doubt he would leave the NFL either.

This is exactly what I would expect from Auburn. Go hire what we just fired.

Jake Spavital 8 years as an OC has had 6 top 20 offenses. I'm not big on the air raid but he does run a little bit more than what you typically think of as air raid offense. He's coached a lot of Qb's whose names you would recognize. I wouldn't hate it

I wouldn't be against Jake. I think he just runs what is working.

Where I'm at.
I think the fanbase would puke with a Fisher hire....UNLESS we kept Durkin and wrote a blank check to a top notch OC

I would terminate my fanhood, cannot stand that greasy lying sumbitch.

Unlike past coaching searches I don't have a clue who my wish list would even be. It's such a different sport now. Other than Kiffin (and he bears some risk too) every candidate mentioned, even candidates who wouldn't come to Auburn come with extreme risk/unknowns.
Jimbo would be terrible, though.

Durkins players love him. We have a top 5 defense in the country. Championship level defense. With that kind of defense, you don’t need an incredible offense, just won that can move the ball and score a reasonable amount of points.
For that reason I’m open to Durkin. We would lose basically zero defensive players, and if we lose offensive players, does that really matter? We did nothing with them anyway

I'm open to Durkin. I don't know all the details of the Maryland player death situation but I know some people think his ethics are garbage because of it. But as long as the investigation really did absolve him I have no issues with giving him a shot.

Durkin would make Auburn continue to be a laughing stock. Hell no
Posted on 11/3/25 at 10:23 am to jvilletiger25
Why? Because his record in a year and a half at Maryland?
Posted on 11/3/25 at 10:38 am to AU_251
Yes, and his past would give Auburn more bad PR. Yeah sure, let’s hire another guy that nobody wants as HC and give him a buyout. That worked great with Freeze and Haskins!
Posted on 11/3/25 at 10:41 am to jvilletiger25
Ill let you all debate his past. But he is very in demand. He will get a shot at a HC. He checks the boxes on a lot of things that make a great HC.
