Oh lol. We could do worse, that would be an interesting combo given he replaced durkin. But yeah he has the sec experience and has coached in high pressure situations/games.

My thing is, how good is durkin going to be? He does not excite me like some of these other names but there’s no denying he’s one of the best defensive coaches there is. So if we do hire him, we HAVE to get a Locksley type OC. Someone with serious experience and proven ability.

Jon Sumrall

Jeff Brohm

DJ Durkin- I am beginning to warm to this. He has his chance to prove what he can do. It is a shitty situation but I want to see how he responds.

DJ Durkin is the tough detailed coach we need. Players love him. Recruits love him. Team won’t be decimated if he stays. Hope this team shows a fresh toughness and discipline the next 3 games. And if we win out or st least have firepower on offense, definitely he needs to be our next HC

DJ should excite us. He is a high energy guy that has his side of the ball playing with great emotion and great discipline. Maryland I get it but it’s also a learning experience that they need to go through.

We have lacked discipline in our other facets and he would provide as well as recruit at a high level.

Dr recently talked to me about it. Said it is so poor and so drug infested that it was the worst experience of their lifetime

Year 3 was the supposed to be the year, and he is at least top 3 in SEC games scoring average (with ZERO offense).

There really shouldn't even be that great of an emphasis on the last games.

Boatload of experience (thus contacts).

I wouldn't be upset if we keep DJ. I just want Cohen to interview and understand what the HC has in plan for the program vs hiring on feelings like we did for Freeze.

What would be the response from the fan base if we hired Jimbo Fisher? I'm hearing things ..

I'd be pissed. I personally think he is a fraud.

I'm my ideal yet semi-realistic world (ie, no Lanning, no Kiffin), we'd interview:

Durkin
Franklin
Brohm
Sumrall
Hartline
Someone out of left field, like Matt Campbell

And then just hire whoever 1) fits the need of a no-nonsense, football obsessed guy and appears to have a genuine understanding of the issues confronting AU and a concrete plan to navigate them and 2) can be obtained for a price that is reasonable for the guy (ie, not paying Sumrall 70m, etc.)

Jimbos record is not terrible. It's how unorganized and how he leaves every program that is a problem.

If you take out 2013 and 2014, Jimbo is a career 8-5 coach. If that is good enough. Not for me. Could just get Gus. He can do that.

? He went on a run at FSU of 10 win seasons. We would be ecstatic.

If the pool of candidates was awful, and Jimbo would do a deal for like 5/25, I might say it's worth seeing if he can just get us to stability with a small chance of upside.

But knowing us, we'd give him some monstrous deal. I'd much rather try Franklin between the two. Jimbo had unlimited resources at A&M and couldn't really raise the bar there.
