Tennessee was screwed over by Lane Kiffin leaving after only one season. Had he stayed, their trajectory would have been much different.

A coach leaving like that after only one season is rare.

I remember when AuburninEugene got all the hoes on AUF stirred up on the high traffic NSD thread saying if Pat loved his son he would send his son elsewhere. Good times.

He was right.

And E still TO THIS DAY says it didnt go down like that.

But it did.

Multiple mods told me that i wasnt an Auburn fan and that I needed to find a new site.

It really grinded their gears

Would rather have Fickell over Campbell myself anyway. But it doesn’t matter, cause we’re getting Bob Stoops!

Fickell has never coached outside of the state of Ohio in his 21 year coaching career. I don't know that Auburn would be a fit for him and vice versa.

Not saying that he wouldn't leave Ohio, but I think he wouldn't stray far if he did leave.

It went down just like that. I even asked you to leave them alone because that was my NSD thread I was trying to keep updated. You got guts though. When I’m bold like that that I get egg on the face

Would love to be wrong...but we should probably relabel the thread to "Pipe Dream Head Coaching Search" because the reality is those who brought us Gus and this contract are the same ones who will eventually be bringing us Coach X as the new Auburn Head Coach and then we can keep this thread going because we probably won't hit a Double much less a base hit with that coach either...

Our AD came from Buffalo, NY. What does that matter? Fickell is a good coach.

Our AD doesn't have to recruit the south.

Did Meyer recruit the south before he went to Florida? Winning takes care of recruiting.

I am not doubting Fickell's ability.

21 years of coaching, only in Ohio. I just don't think he would be seriously looked at or seriously interested, unless we offered him an absurd amount of money that he doesn't deserve.

Get your point but recruiting as the HC of UF is a lot different than recruiting as the HC of AU. If they don't have ties to the area they better have assistants that do...

Cincinnati currently has guys from AL, GA, FL, AR, LA, KY on their roster:

And I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind Auburn expanding their recruiting grounds to get a few top Ohio players.

But it doesn’t matter, cause we’re getting Bob Stoops

Thanks my man, but to be fair, there is nothing I would have liked more than to have be wrong.

And also being fair, it wasn't a really bold prediction... Like at all... I mean 5 years of product on the field spoke for itself. Once I saw what happened to Jarrett Stidham under Gus, there isnt a chance on gods green earth that I would have let MY 5* son sign with Auburn under the Malzahn regime.

And im just some guy who watches football and pays attention. I can only imagine that Patrick Nix has forgotten more about football than I will ever know.. I still dont know WtF Patrick and Bo were thinking.

And going back to that event, do you remember that MULTIPLE PEOPLE (mods included) told me that the Nix family said they would only sign with Auburn if Malzahn was the coach.

Im still dumbfounded by that if true.

Gus had shown EXACTLY ZERO ability to develop a QB...

It wasn’t a bold prediction per se, but with there being at least 900 on that thread and 99% celebrating his signing you really put yourself into the lion’s den.

I have a feeling that this is really the year Gus is gone, usually by now the administration would have already came out to say Gus is our coach moving forward. They need to move fast being signing day is coming up.
