I don't think Mincy will sit long. Jones is better than some think IYAM. My Dad and I were both watching Reed on A-Day. We both felt like he played more physical than we expected. He has to do it in the game, but our DL is going to help the DB's this year IMO as well.

What are you talking about bro? Our DL without an elite pass rusher is going to absolutely kill our DBs this year
Our DBs are solid and we don't face an elite QB really all year. I am not worried about our pass defense when Dylan Thompson is the best we go against

I have a feeling someone is going to find their way as a very good pass rusher. Maybe not elite like Lawson, but damn good. Just a hunch is all.

I am watching A Day Game on SECN. Just watched Quille catch a jump ball in the corner of the end zone...so excited to watch this happen a lot.

I think someone comes out of the woodwork and provides a solid pass rush but we can only hope ourDL will bail out our DBs with a pass rush but shouldn't expect it

How about it being hopeful rather than a stretch?

I think overall DL pressure will be better, as in total collapsing of the pocket. We will definitely need a speed rusher to step up, but if the interior guys can get the push they should be able to, then we will be just fine.

Who was out elite pass rusher after the spring game in 2010?

Well technically our only elite pass rusher in 2010 was Fairley from the interior. I don't recall an exterior pass rush that was elite. Goggans and Carter were average while Lemonier, Eguae, and Ford were young

Our DBs were atrocious that year. Bad argument.

Not really. Not a single one of us had any idea that Fairley would be the beast he was after the spring game.
We have some guys with great talent. Wright or Blackson or even Ben Bradley could be a elite pass rusher. As could
Daniel or Owens from the outside...
Time will tell and we won't know till game 4

I think GoCrazy made some solid points about the collapsing of the pocket.
What I think will be interesting is that we are looking to field a large DL (280+ across) which will make double teams necessary and open up blitzing lanes

Linebackers have to be disciplined and choose their right assignments on each play when you go 280 across the DL. Outside runs off tackle and sweeps could be difficult to stop

This is true.
Though I implemented the Rhino package in NCAA 14 and it seemed to work well.

This defense has the potential to be a lot like that 2010 defense... Very good against the run, but bad against the pass.... 2010 didn't have an elite edge rusher either, but had talent up the middle... similar to this year.

If we trust our LBs up the middle, we could do something similar to the Lion's Wide 9 front which would all but eliminate perimeter runs. If our LBs couldn't fill the running lanes though we'd get boned

Good point and I can see that being the case. If the results are the same I would be okay with that.
