Looks like Cole reads a little slacker130 on here. Allow me to quote myself-

Why would these dickhead boosters want access to a shite program? Wouldn't you want your suite at JHS to watch good football and not some sideline field access to Southern Miss level play?

I hope ADAG stiff arms all the crap, heads over to Gouge's office and demands the ability to make this hire or accept his resignation.

Then I hope ADAG calls Napier and gives that guy complete autonomy to build his vision at Auburn. Let's ride for 5 years, keeping the fingers out of the cake and see what happens.

We have to quit hiring these Auburn guys. As much as I love them, look what happens when in the end. We can't make a decent change because we have to protect the Auburn Alumni jobs program.

This is showing how fricked up the "behind the scenes" stuff goes on at Auburn. It would be comical if it wasn't so sad and pathetic.

Even if ADAG has taken over the search, I don't know what difference he can make at this point. What will he tell the coaches? They know the PTB are still there. They know ADAG will be a short-timer if he goes against them. They won't want to come here without full support of everyone and they will know the meddling is only a step away.

We screwed.

I usually laugh to keep from crying but it’s straight to sadness in this situation.

I respect our former player that are coaches now, but take a look at how much they have made /making, and I have no sympathy for them if they are let go. Kodie Burns has already made more $ than I will in probably a lifetime. And he was a bust recruit..

This has been a comedy of errors, but maybe this is the best thing that could have happened.

I just thought it was embarrassing to get turned down by Napier, but now Bill Clark...BILL F'ing CLARK?!!??!!

If thats not a wake up call to the power brokers...nothing will be, and we are indeed screwed.

May not have been "formal" but it was definitely relayed to him that if he took the job he had to do X, Y, Z, and Clark said no thanks

He was also gainfully employed at Arizona State before coming back to Auburn.

I don't care about keeping a single one of those guys, but just because they went to school here doesn't mean nobody else will want them or that they are terrible at their jobs.

Napier turning us down makes me want him even more as odd as that sounds.

My respect went up big time for him. Seems like a no BS guy and not a pushover. Which is exactly what Auburn needs to be competitive imo.

100%

Even if we circle back to give full autonomy to these candidates were fricked. They’ll never trust us and if they did say yes it’s gonna cost a shitload more to hire any of them.

Napier turning us down

I'm just not sure that he turned down SEC HC money. I'm in wait and see mode right now. All these same MFers that are 'breaking news' on this coaching search are the same MFers that were just as surprised as we were when Gus was let go. Remember that.

What do you think happened then? Not asking with attitude, I seriously want to know what you think

A few of y'all have missed one major point, which I brought up yesterday. According to Cubelic, and he says he knows this for a fact, Napier turned us down specifically because he didn't know who his boss was going to be. Is he answering to the Boosters, the trustees, Gouge, or our relatively recent AD whose contract is soon up for review? A lot of racket is being made about staffing demands being made of our candidates, but if that's true, it's not the primary issue -- at least it wasn't in Napier's case. ADAG can call Napier (or whoever) back and tell them they can hire whoever they want -- but that doesn't fix the primary issue.

I am not sure you CAN fix the primary issue at Auburn. If there is any hope to do so, ADAG has to stand up and run this himself (there are rumors that he has done so), AND the BOT/President have to express confidence in ADAG and his future here.

Without that, we're not getting anyone good. Nobody wants to take this job and try and please several masters.

He turned down USCe before us. Seems crazy, but if he’s already making plenty, and he’s a career minded guy, he probably saw all the red flags and decided to be patient.

I would say by this time next year we have a new president and AD.

Again, at this point, should we call Will Muschamp?

I would honestly much rather have Muschamp over Steele or Clark or Neal Brown.

Champ is 2-2 in bowl games, won 11 games and his division at Florida once, and won freaking 9 games in a season at SCar.

He has failed as a head coach, no doubt. But, I think he is the right OC hire away from being an all-star HC. I just don't know that he is capable of ever submitting to modern football and not hiring a damn Bobo or Chaney type OC.

It's truly sad that we are at the point in this shite show search that I just had to argue for hiring Will Muschamp. May God have mercy on all of our souls...
