But weren't we just complaining that we fired Gus without having someone lined up? We bitch either way.

Not sure what that has to do with our powerful boosters who want control. Doesn't matter if a plan in place or not. The AD (with president's approval) as well as a search firm if deemed necessary needs to make the decision.

Are there really people supporting Steele being HC? I haven't seen one anywhere. I do see folks say they would retain him as DC, which is preposterous if any of the rumors are true.

Not talking about message board people. It's the Facebook crowd that comments on AU football's posts about how "we'll always support our coach no matter what."

Agreed, about him being retained.

Any examples that aren’t 20 years old?

Are you seriously asking this? The good old boy network is in full force at Auburn. Look at how long Jacobs was retained even after some of the decisions he made. And Tim Jackson should be nowhere near the AD. The rumors about the decisions forced on Gus. And you think Bobby Lowder doesn't still have a hand in things. Jimmy Rane, etc. Sorry, but it's easier to believe than not to.

Did we just let Buddy Garrity run off Coach Taylor?

Bonus Mrs. Taylor

Unfortunately Rivals reupped my annual membership a week before Gus was fired and I hate thinking I’m paying for that shitshow anymore.

JGT talking about Neal Brown as a compromise candidate killed me inside.

When we hire a coach we will say we got our #1 guy.

I’m headed that way.. I actually tried canceling it last month but because Yahoo owns Rivals, it’s apparently more complicated to cancel than just sending an email.

Wrong. I never said these guy and gals aren't assholes. Just not the boogie man like some of you hope. Flow charts and this mindset the AD and president are just a figure head is AL.com type journalism.

I don’t know if it has been posted lately, and I know it was rumored, but Bill Clark is now apparently a serious candidate according to FootballScoop on Twitter.

I could easily get behind Bill Clark if he is who Bowl says he is. He just won’t be a splash hire or a shot in the arm hire. He is a pure coach.

And where is Bowl?

This thread from Justin is 100% factually accurate, and I echo his sentiments. Auburn is far from perfect, but the majority of Auburn people believe in doing things the right way. We don’t stand for the kind of chicken shite plan Steele, Garner and Rane tried to pull off. #WDE
