I’ve pretty much accepted it honestly. I won’t be happy when it happens, will likely swear off Auburn football. But then be right there to watch when they start up next year. And they know most are like that. I’ll bitch, but if he wins, that’s all I care about. Just don’t see any positives from him being hired.

We had Kirby. The powers wanted him immediately. He wanted to coach in the national championship. That’s what happened with Kirby.

I've seen several people say that Auburn and Kirby came down to one sticking point in the details on here and in other conversations with people. Is this what is being referenced?

So, he wanted to coach against ND in the championship game and we said no and he walked? Jeez...

Apparently Dan Quinn really wants the job.

Sorry, ATL Falcons fans.

Recruiting does help doesn't it. Will Auburn ever get it? I seriously doubt it. We had our chance at one the top three recruiters in the nation and they blew it again.

I got nothing.

I would be surprised if Auburn was interested, and then again I wouldn’t be...

I think the real interest is from him and not Auburn.

Word is MC took the first offer he saw. Had no interest in negotiating Oregon. Was just wanting to get it over. We may have dodged a bullet. SEC West would have killed him.

Kirby at Auburn would not be as good as Kirby at UGA. As an alum there, as someone who had full booster backing (which may never happen for anyone at Auburn), it has really been a hand in glove fit (especially the synergies with in state recruiting).

Auburn being a tougher place to recruit than UGA, and Kirby still having no idea what to do offensively makes me think there were decent odds he would’ve been a better version of Muschamp here. Defense would’ve been a monster but we’d never get out of the SEC west when Kirby’s brain turned to mush every time he faced Saban or LSU.

100 pages and there hasn't even been as much as an interview leaked. Lol.

This has been a fun one, fellas.

No kidding. Either Auburn is extremely tight lipped or they just aren’t doing jack shite with this search.

Which I find hard to believe.

I would assume a lot of it is being done on phone and zoom interviews which makes it a little tougher to leak when you don’t get some dude at the airport who saw them in dallas or Seattle etc.

I don't doubt that at all. I wasn't all in on the Kirby hype. But, I also didn't really know how good of a recruiter he was.

I honestly didn't think he would have Georgia in the shape they are right now so I was big time wrong on him. I just didn't realize how close he was to coming here at the time. And I certainly didn't realize it was because we wouldn't let him coach in the title game. (And I really don't blame Auburn for saying no with him being at Bama)

SCar and Vandy just went through coaching searches.

I feel like there was a pretty steady stream of solid information coming out as far as interviews throughout both searches.

Idk, this has been a weird search for sure.
