I'm not, but I'm ready to see a new long term deal done.

Market is pricing coaches. It appears to be taking a big step up salary wise.

Add in the number of SEC vacancies, and even without the season we're having, Gus is worth more now than he used to be.

We should lock him in. If we regret it down the road, so be it.

I am amazed at the amount of people that suddenly have connections to one of the most notoriously private football coaches in the country

Not saying he couldn't bolt but I don't really believe much of anything coming out on people with supposed connections to Malzahn. I fully expect AU announces an extension Sunday

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter as quickly as revenues are rising from the SECN. That alone almost more than covers the coaching staff and potential buyouts. It's not as if they knew this money was going to be as much as it is.

Not saying AU should be careless, but he should have the 2nd best contract in the SEC somewhere between Dan and Nick.

ETA: and give our assistants raises (except special teams).

On one hand, I say absolutely give him what he wants and lock him down. On the other I'd still like to see a complete year with no bed-shitting games....and I'd say, definitely bump up the salary, but keep the buyout reasonable.

You absolutely don't want to end up like UT right now....two pretty bad hires in a row have set that school and its reputation back quite significantly. HOWEVER...we ain't UT. Our football program should be very, very attractive to almost any candidate that we might want. So...while we desire continuity, I suppose we do have a little bit of leverage....

If Gus leaves I honestly wouldn't have a problem with just promoting Chip and keeping Steele. I think Chip is the true mastermind behind our success. The only question is he ready to be a Head Coach.

Can't wait to pimp out whoever Chip hires as OC as the true mastermind behind our success

Bold thought here I know but stick with me. Maybe, just maybe there isn't a singular person responsible for both the good & bad things that happen...

I think that's in for a market correction. NFL is losing $. If it continues, it'll start to burn teams' bottom lines.

Idk, there is a lot out there suggesting even these huge mega deals for QBs may be underpaying them given QB influence on team success.

I would say CB market is in for a market correction

And when Gus shits the bed Saturday like he has in the past we will be on the hook again for a coachh that has not produced a ring. If Gustav wants to go let him gtfo. Unlike UT we have the ability to attract top tier coaches. If he wins Saturday he is worth the price, if not, bye...
