Funny you mention Pruitt, considering he came from the AL high school ranks... Clark's resume is more impressive than Pruitts (prior to him taking th FSU DC job).

What's more impressive for a coach?... coaching DBs for saban for a couple years and being the DC at Hoover.... or being a head coach of a FBS program for one year and DC at another FBS team?
What I'm saying is no one knew Pruitt was any good until he was given the opportunity to call the defense at FSU. Same might be said for Clark if we hire him.

I don't know that anyone doesn't trust Gus. I just think everyone knows who the #1 target is. He is the best man for the job, bar none. If we don't get him, we all know we're settling. No one wants to do that. I'm sure Clark is a very good defensive mind, but he won't be able to keep up with bama, uga, lsu, etc recruiting wise for the first few years. We need talent on that side of the ball. If Clark is who Gus wants if Muschamp passes, so be it. I'll be all for him. Until that time, he's nothing more than a #2 choice.

Clark is a big risk in a lot of ways. He is unproven in the SEC. Sure, he might be a home run, but it is a risk.
As much as I like Muschamp, if he is waiting for a better offer or wants to be a HC at a mid tier program, that is fine. We need to start working on the defense yesterday, however.
I am really hoping the next post I make is celebrating Muschamp, but the longer this goes the less likely that seems.

True but Pruitt got experience recruiting at a high level under Saban tho, on defense.
