So, how many of Barners are resisting the urge to Rick Roll the SECRant with a thread title of, "BREAKING: Will Muschamp hired as Auburn's new DC, details to come".
I did that during CamGate, right at the height of the ATPB madness.

It was literally earlier the same day that AU declared him ineligible and the NCAA reinstated him almost simultaneously - the subject title was something like "BREAKING: NCAA rules on Cam Newton investigation" and I named the link "www.ncaa.org/d1/latest-news" or something similar.

I was lucky, got off with only a warning from Chicken, who nuked it within mere minutes of my posting it. Don't know how many Rantards actually got RickRolled (besides him, of course )

Quick, someone post JC Shurburtt's newest update on 247. It's good stuff. Good for Auburn, terrible for South Carolina.

Seriously, this many pages of Ted Roof and no one has brought up the fact that he is coaching at his alma mater? He's not leaving Ga Tech.

Gus and AU are putting the full press on Champ. USC is slow playing, and they do not have a deal on the table.

Notes per Hoke

-If we get Boom 95% chance T-Rob comes too per a close friend to T-Rob
-T-Rob may come anyway pending on who the new DC is
-something with AU and boom could happen any minute but Houston has cluttered things a bit.

South Carolina has a deal in place with Muschamp.

It’s FICTION. Ever since the claims of “done deal” have been floated around by minor players in the market and people who know a guy, we have worked to verify some kind, any kind, of agreement. We’ve spoken with people in the administration, people on the Board of Trustees, coaches, decision makers and people tight in head coach Steve Spurrier’s inner circle. Not only can we not verify that there is a deal in place, we can say that there is not a deal in place. That means there’s not a written contract, a handshake agreement, a verbal agreement or even so much as a pinky promise. Muschamp hasn’t been in Columbia to even shake a hand. If a deal with Muschamp gets done at South Carolina, it will have happened after the morning of Thursday, December 11 when we were last able to verify from our network of contacts that there was no deal in place.
quote:

Muschamp has to have an official head coach in waiting tag to come to South Carolina.

Again, it’s FICTION. We were told at the very beginning of this process that Muschamp was turned off by the idea of being named head coach in waiting. We believe that to be true. Does Muschamp want to have an agreement in place that he will be the first choice, for lack of a better phrase, in Columbia when Spurrier retires? Yes, that’s true. But an official head coach in-waiting tag will not be the reason that Muschamp goes elsewhere if he does in fact end up somewhere besides South Carolina.
quote:

Auburn is working overtime to land Muschamp.

This is 100 percent, absolute FACT. Head coach Gus Malzahn and the administration is putting the full-court press on Muschamp to get him in ASAP.

South Carolina is working overtime to land Muschamp.

This is 100 percent, absolute FICTION. There have been conversations between Spurrier and Muschamp but they’ve been minimal. We do know there has been constant dialogue between the administration at South Carolina and Muschamp’s agent and his staff. Spurrier’s desire to wait until after the bowl wasn’t just talk or coach-speak.

247 Notes from the Big Spur

One person just asked JC Schurburtt if it was true that Spurrier basically quit after getting beat by Clemson and the Admin had to talk him out of it and to basically put a succession plan together.

JC Schurburtt replied..."no comment"

If anyone wants to have some fun on the Rant, here is a link for you to use. This is not real. I repeat, this is not real. You better make it look legit so people don't realize it's a rick roll.
