They'll easily get any of those if they come knocking.

He also hired Texas HS coaches for his staff when he got to Baylor, which paid dividends for him in the long run.

The biggest reason I think that people have been assuming Rhule was going to not coach anywhere is because of his buyout from the Panthers having a dollar to dollar offset, i.e. whatever he's making at another job, the Panthers deduct that from what they pay him.

However, that buyout is paid out over the rest of the length of his Panthers contract, which was a ridiculous 7 years when he signed it.

Also, I don't think the contract is public but generally you are required to seek fair market employment.

Bielema got in trouble for this when he was an assistant for the Patriots.

Ole Miss would release it for recruiting and publicity that they will pay their coaches. Unless it's required to be on the down low for some odd reason because the ones it matters to will know if they want like Auburn or anyone coming to hire him.

Everyone else waves big buyouts as if it is a big check.

I figured the OM contract would be public due to FOIA

I never said Rhule would be a bad hire.

Bad hire just solely based on his coaching smock alone. Seriously, is his wife a kindergarten teacher?

Our last shacket wearing coach won a NC. Maybe the shacket is the key.

I forgot about that conspiracy theory

I think I see a tooth in there, but I'm honestly not sure.

That's what Dye did when he got to AU in '81.

Is that rule still in place that if you hire a HS HC to an analyst role you can't recruit kids from that school for x amount of years?

I know it's not an issue if you hire them to an on field coach role, but I can't remember if that other one is still around.

IDK but I would assume so. Dye hired James Daniel from Enterprise HS, and Joe Whitt from Lee and I think Steve Dennis as well from somewhere in state. They were coaches, not analysts though.

And spent the first 3 months of his tenure in a helicopter zigzagging the state of Texas to any and all coaching conferences and camps to build as many relationships on the recruiting trail as possible.

He may not be the best Xs and Os guy, but he knows how to manage a program. That's for sure.
