I wish I was around then :(

Been thinking about 2010 a lot lately and Gene doesn't get enough credit. Season after season since then we have seen special seasons come close but then the teams just inexplicably give the season away while favored. Gene didnt bave incredible talent either, but he and Cam did not let trap games undo them.

Jay G said this morning he expects Malcolm to practice and be part of the team.
As I said, he's an impact player and their jobs are on the line this year so they are willing to turn a blind eye to an abuser. Been a long time since I've been this disappointed in Auburn and can't defend Hugh Freeze anymore.. people have the right to call him whatever they want, because apparently its true.

Say what you want to about Gus, but he wouldn't have put up with that shite. Simmons would have been gone ASAP.

I get that you are of the position guilty until proven innocent, but if we are to believe the rest of your post, why did we suspend Jarquez last year for far less?

ETA: in 23 not last year. Man it does not seem like that was 2 years ago

I just think it’s silly to assume guilty until proven innocent.

No one here knows what happened. This is a pretty sad reason to be disappointed in the team and coach. There are plenty of reasons to be disappointed in the program and Hugh Freeze, but right now, this is not one of them.

Exactly.

Considering the University hasn't suspended Simmons yet, trying to pin this on Hugh is a little silly. The University was who first suspended Hunter in '23.

So, either we believe the University is just turning a blind eye here at Hugh's request, or this case is far murkier and the evidence or lack of it do not support the initial story very well. Auburn has no problem suspending students for SA issues. I think it is beyond silly to jump to conclusios here.

I think yall would have a good argument if he was suspended while the investigation was going on.

I get it though.. we don't want it to be true. We want to be better than that. Just turns out the people running the show right now aren't.

So, in your opinion, Auburn University cares more about Hugh Freeze's job than they do a SA/DV case. Not the athletic department, the actual University?

You tell me. Accused of strangling a girl and won't even miss a day of practice.

What was the university's response?

That says a lot to me. You really think the university is going to come out and say those bruises were faked.

You tell me, I asked you the question.

In order for your argument to hold, you have to already presume guilt, then presume we are going to overlook said guilt for a player that is not a big of a star as one we suspended prior for sexual misconduct related issues, then also presume the University itself is going to overlook University code of conduct policies in order to protect the football coach, something they have shown before to not do.

Not how I operate. I will presume innocense and i'm not going to jump to the conclusions of malfeasance due to lack of action when I don't know the facts.

Brother.. in your heart of hearts, how do you think those marks got around her neck?

The school needs to win football games. Hugh Freeze needs to win football games, Cohen needs to win football games. This happens ALL the time in sports. We would be tearing apart any other school that did this, but its Auburn so people want to give the benefit of the doubt (which I get), but at some point everyone is just going to have to admit whats becoming more and more obvious.

Hard to say, i've not seen them. Neither have you. Kind of the point you seem to continuously not be getting.

As has been said ad nauseum now, this is your own pessimistic view point shaping your opinion. You belive that the only justification is malfeasance, therefore nothing else is possible. Which again, is reliant on you already deciding he is guilty, which is not how things work. You've left no possibility that there could even be a remote chance that the story isn't what it seems.

If MS comes back w/ a suspension will say a lot regarding guilty behavior.
