Most of our offensive players will be returning. We might get a couple grad transfers for the o line. We probably lose Brown and Davidson and Russell is a senior. We lose Davis at LB. I can’t imagine we will be any worse next year than we were this year so our floor should be 7 wins right?

I'm not feeling good about it, I think 7 would be good considering everything but I'm not seeing how we get to 6 wins

Sadly these are my picks. I'd love to beat the mutts and bammer but right now it's not looking good.

Oregon (in Dallas) L
Tulane W
Kent State W
Texas A&M L
Mississippi State ???
Florida L
Arkansas W
LSU ???
Ole Miss W
Georgia L
Samford W
Alabama L

It's all wild arse guesses at this point.

We have no idea who our OC or DC is for next year. We don't know what complement of position coaches we will have. We don't know who our QB is. Until we see Gus back in the saddle with a press conference or two, we've got nothing to go on. It really is almost like Gus is starting over.

At their next opportunity, I have to believe the press corps will push Gus to talk about the specifics of how he is going to turn this around. But to be honest, until Gus figures out who will agree to be OC, DC, and position coaches, he really has nothing to talk about.

It would be different if Gus was a coach with his own distinct identity, but he isn't.

consider next year as a down cycle if we keep the current coaching staff in place

Next year looks to a rebuilding year.. AKA we are going to lose a lot of games we aren't actually rebuilding anything. We will just suck.

Every year under Gus feels like a rebuilding year.

Did something happen with Kevin Steele since he signed a 3 year deal in October?

I think there’s a very good chance we are worse next year.

As inconsistent and terrible as Stidham could be, he won the Washington and A&M games with some pretty great precision passing late in those games. We do not have a QB on roster that can sling it like he could when he was on his game.

If next year plays out like this year, then we probably lose to Oregon and A&M. I’m not saying our ceiling is 5 wins, but it’s certainly a possibility. Especially considering we replace Tennessee at home with Florida away.

I'm guessing it's Cord at QB.

Gus doesn't seem to like Malik very much. Have no clue about Gatewood, and Gus is too paranoid to play a true freshman.

That's my thought as well... but if we're talking Gus then it will be several games before MW is pulled and Cord gets a shot.

Sheesh.. I hadn't even thought about those DL losses. Yeah, we are seriously going to be horrible. Honestly the only way we could compete is to bring in Freeze and hope we put up 40+ ppg because our defense is gonna be more like the swiss cheese version we saw in the early Gus years.

I've seen a lot people assuming Davidson declares early this year. Has he given any indication of this? Feel like he is one of those guys that could really help himself by coming back.

DE Nick Coe
Is a sophomore this year so he isn't eligible to declare for the draft and I haven't heard any rumors of him wanting to transfer. What am I missing - why is he on this list?

With his injury issues in his career if he’s projected 3rd or 4th round I’d declare if I was him.

Coe is a redshirt sophomore and can declare for the draft since it's been 3 years since he graduated high school.

We have a real opportunity to be gutted along the front seven, but hopefully some of the guys return. Jeff Holland should've stayed.

Coe is a RS SOph.

Also added to the list is OT Calvin Ashley who is not expected to return

One of my friends says Gatewood supposedly could light it up in practice and has a a huge arm. Just kinda sporadic on accuracy. Pretty physical runner which is what we need IMO instead of chicken shite Stidham who’s scared to get hit. Rumor is Gus thinks he has an attitude problem and that is why he didn’t get any snaps this year. We all know how a glorified practice QB ends up under Gus (JJ) so I’ll be here good or bad next year.

Is he transferring? He isn't eligible to declare yet.

If that's the case that really sucks that he's is one of 3 or 4 highly rated guys in the trenches to transfer out over the past few years. Why the hell can this staff not evaluate and/or develop these studs coming out of high school? It's really disheartening especially with it being along the lines where you can really win or lose big games in this league.
