Major Applewhite
Not an option
To buy out Applewhite's Houston contract would cost some $7mil+
No way we are paying $22mil upfront and $8mil+ (Gus+Applewhite combined sal) per year just to hire Major Applewhite

Who would you like to see get interviews ?
Going to say this once again, Joe Whitt Jr. He has been the lone bright spot on the Packers' staff for years, regularly identified as a rising star in NFL coaching ranks
- Elite recruiter when he was in college ranks
- Brilliant X's O's coach according to multiple sources
- Passionate about coaching up players
- Track record of getting his units to outperform talent
- Ties to AU without ties to the current dumpster fire
Whitt is on the path to be a future NFL HC. If we don't snag him now, we will never get another shot

Interesting. Probably can get him for cheap too. Still think we cannot afford it though.

Throw my candidate list away. Joe Whitt Jr. is number 1 on my list

Settled. I'm taking this to the board tomorrow morning

Lets assume somehow AU & Malzahn find a way to part ways
How is this supposed to work?
AU: Can you please let us out of this crazy contract?
Gus: Sure, I screwed the pooch.
Isn't happening, Gus is our coach for 2 more years unless someone with "frick you" money buys him out.
Yella or Cook will have to step up. Will they?
It isn't smart business unless you remove the clowns that signed off on this shite.

If we could get JWjr for ~$2-2.5mil, it is close to cost neutral over 6 years compared to what we were planning to pay Gus. We'd just be accelerating the $15mil upfront cost
Gus Remaining 6 YR Payout: ~$42mil total, ~$7mil per season
JWjr $2.5mil/yr Buyout Scenario: ~$47mil total, $32mil Gus, $15mil JWjr

Stop right there. No assuming involved. Gus WILL NOT be fired this year. Just give up on that. It ain't happening.

Tell me how Joe Whitt, Jr., an NFL DB coach, is ready for the Auburn HC job??? Please don't give me any "Auburn Man" bullshite. If we were to go that route, lets get Derrick Ansley. He has recent SEC experience at Kentucky and Bama, he is also a top notch recruiter.

Ya he hasn’t been a college coach in over a decade, he’s been in the league for a decade and hasn’t sniffed being a hc, and isn’t even a dc

I’d go

You'd still suck some Gus cock in the Waffle House bathroom to get him to stay.

Y’all like to say that I’ve just said he won’t get fired. Some salty posters in here obsessed with me

He started of as an analyst in the NFL and is now the defensive passing game coordinator during that time.
So despite the Packers' D beings so bad they fired their longtime DC, Whitt was good enough to not only be retained but promoted where he has been successful

Okay? And Doug Pederson was quality control for the Eagles 8 years ago
