I've got three generators.
A crappy 5500kw that's loud as heck and drinks gas. Got it during Katrina, no power for almost 3 weeks. I didn't run it much, used a smaller one. Hasn't been messed with since Katrina
Original 1984/5ish Honda generator 2200kw. Sips gas, but still pretty loud. Made it thru dozens of Hurricanes. Probably could crank it in 2 pulls still and it hasn't run in a year or more.
Recent purchase is WEN 56225i Super Quiet 2250-Watt Portable Inverter Generator with Fuel Shut-Off
I've broken it in, put an hour meter on it, and only run about 5 hrs so far. Fairly quiet and can use for tailgating.
Bought it for $385 from on OT Lounge or Outdoor board thread mentioning a sale. Seems pretty quiet, good enough to run my fridge and some other basic stuff.
ETA- For those with a whole home generator, make sure you fully check it out before the storm. My folks have one, that is programmed to run every Wednesday. However, it never takes the load from the house unless the power goes out.
Well, they got a new A/C unit with a giant touch screen, super complicated thermostat. Hurricane rolls in, power is off, everything kicks on, but the A/C. Somehow, the swap made the thermostat angry. Never fun to try to get an A/C tech to come after a storm.

I like the idea of at least a dual fuel type generator considering I really dont like cleaning carburetor bowls and what not.
Do you know of any that are great and cost less than 2,000
I see a few online by Duromax.

That WEN has a fuel cutoff. So you just hit the petcock to off, and it'll run for a minute or two and then the carb is empty.
I just always put non-ethanol gas, with marine stabil in all my small engines and my Jeep. No problems in more than a decade.

But seriously, I dont even know where the nearest gas station is that sells God's gas. and why do you need stabil if the fuel is already nonethanol.

Have you heard from your son Corch? Praying that he is safe along with all Florida residents.

"God's gas" is an awesome name/description. Also my day job so I may have an "educated" bias.

I was wondering the same thing.
I have been using gas generators for decades. I have never had a problem.........but again, when I am done with it I turn off the gas valve, drain the gas in the tank, and run what gas is in carb. out. If I have to fill it up again in a week, so be it. I just use the good gas in the lawnmower. It won't go to waste.

No need for stabil if using your process. Gas that sits for prolonged periods can deteriorate but your process eliminates that possibility.

Non-ethanol gas is good for about 6 months without a commercial premix. I've found marine stabil to make it over 2+ years. YMMV.

Either that's or get Lanier's address and go rob him when shite hits the fan.
I wouldn't advise that. Looters do get shot down here...some folks even patrol their neighborhood looking for people stealing. We usually come together and help each other out.
I have had a few hurricanes where we have been without power for up to a week.
One I had the generator going running fridge, etc and powering the internet working through issues because at that time we had to get drugs to patients from Pharmacies in the affected regions.
