You never know what these Hurricanes can do once they hit the warm water. I have a son in Tampa which should be out the path but you never know.

Prayers to all. Stay safe.

Winds 30-40. Very little rain. Some legit 8-10 foot waves coming in the beach. My only worry is that the power stays in and we will be golden.

We lost power for about an hour this morning. It’s pretty windy in spurts here.

if I didn’t have to go right back to work tomorrow, I’d be sitting on the patio with one right now seeing if the wind is going to blow away my privacy fence.

I am not sure if you have one.........a generator is a must for any Floridian. You Georgia yankees probably don't have a lot of use for them.

What are the best generators for a single family for possible disasters that might require it for a week at a time.Just for doomsday purposes.

Factors:
Fuel
Noise
Millenialfication- Ease of use

I have a 7500KV Generac in my garage at home. I am just not at home. Had it for Ian last year.

My new house will have a full generator system installed.

Lanier is a prepared Georgia cracker.

That's the one I have. We were in Michael several years ago. I ran it non-stop. I didn't run AC. I ran one freezer, one fridge/freezer, lights in living room, tv (had to get an antenna box because cable lines were down) and microwave. I was also on well water at that time and septic tank with a sump pump.....so had to run both.

I believe the gas tank is 7 gallons. I was refueling once a day. It is not the most quiet generator, but neither was the neighbors or the other neighbors........or their neighbors.

I went a week without power during one of the 2016 hurricanes. Never again.

Generator and solar panels installed now.

smart man. I have been threatening to do that also.

There are times in July/August when the power grid will overload from all the AC/appliances being run. It may last a few minutes or over an hour. The house heats up in a hurry that time of year with no air flowing.

That’s the one. I filled it last year but Ian never killed our power so I never used it. Drained the gas out of it in the winter and put it in the boat.

I may fuel it up when I get home just in cast. I have 5, 6 gallon cans I may fill as well. I know this is not the only storm we will see this year. I can always run the gas in the boat once the season is over like last year.

Jangalang, once you determine what size generator you need, look for one that runs on LP gas. The LP gas will burn clean and not gum up the carburetor like gasoline does when it sits idle for months at a time. Also will be much easier to start. Nothing worse than having a generator that will not start when you actually need it.

If you have to go with a gasoline burning generator set yourself a reminder to crank it up and let it run at least once a month.

Or you could try to find an E85 generator.

What am I talking about I don't have a fricking generator and now feel I need one. Either that's or get Lanier's address and go rob him when shite hits the fan.

when I am done with it, I drain the gas and run the generator until all the gas is out of the carb..

Exactly what I do. I put stabil in my fuel for the generator. I drained it out in the winter then ran it dry
