Just my opinion but I don't see Bo Nix getting better any. I'm not any bigger of a Gus fan than anyone on this board but it has been a few years now since he has let quarterbacks seek outside coaching on QB techniques. I don't understand how people can blame Gus for his poor accuracy or lack of staying in the pocket. I'm pretty sure no coach teaches that. Was asking Bo to throw that many times in the South Carolina game a mistake? Maybe, but heck its not like he was asked to make difficult throws. Most of the throws they asked him to make could be made in the backyard. He has mental and mechanical issues. I believe if Bo struggles this weekend against a porous defense then we should look at the backups because its not like he is doing anything different than your average QB.

He's a good dude. I saw him at Lowes a few weeks ago. Just threw a war eagle at him as we were walking past each other. He chatted for a minute.

Yes, Bo is pressing and making bad decisions while trying to do too much. But, I put a good majority of the blame on coaching. There is no way he should be put in the positions he has been out in the past two years. There is no excuse for Gus to call on Bo to throw the ball 40-50 times a game. That isn't Auburn football and more importantly, that isn't even his own offensive philosophy.

Bo is struggling right now, but I still believe that with the right coaching, he could be an above average to good QB in the SEC. And it's obvious he isn't getting that coaching, because we all see the same problems that he came in with. So, for Malzahn to put all his eggs in the Bo basket and have absolutely nothing behind him is 100% on him. If Gatewood, or anyone halfway serviceable, behind Bo, he would have certainly been benched Saturday (I think. Who knows with Gus though) Having one of the best young RBs in the country and not leaning on him to take pressure off the QB is on home.

We are in year 8 of GM and having year 1 problems with roster management/development. That is utter incompetence and unacceptable.

While I think Bo is in his head some, this is also on coaches. Look what Malik Willis is doing at Liberty

Bo thinks he’s Michael Jordan when in reality he is Harold Miner.

Hopefully he is full of humble pie from last week.

You can’t.

It appears so.

Thats why you are getting downvotes.

If the first two observations I quoted are accurate, the there’s absolutely no “maybe” to the third.

Agreed, but if so many people agree with the first two observations why does everyone get so upset when I say he needs to be benched if he doesn't play well this week?

Jason Campbell was just as frustrating to watch early in his Auburn career as Bo. The 2004 Campbell was awesome.

Not his first 2 years. Regardless of who was the OC, i was at those games, and for some reason JC in passing downs was afraid to throw it downfield. He would always settle for the underneath throws, and our offense sputtered. A lot of us watching felt like JC was just not confident in his long passing game and didn't want to make mistakes.

2003 was Hugh Nall and I think he used Bobby Petrino's(Our 1 year OC in 2002) playbook for JC, and we were not too bad.
2004 was Borges first year as OC, but Campbell really expanded in his passing, and utilizing the whole field. Maybe experience and confidence finally showed in his passing.

As Corch has said repeatedly, he has to stay in the pocket.

Pretty soon defenses will forego DTs and just put two extra safeties on the line outside our tackles because he will bail the pocket at the first chance.

Just show him some highlights of Mac Jones, stop the film and say, okay where is he, over and over again. Good things happen when you stay in the pocket.

And receiver is spelled receiver.....not Seth Williams.

Just slow mo the last play of the game, and it will reinforce what you are saying:

Bo goes back in the pocket, and in the upper right corner you can see a WR go about 6 yards and cut to the sideline open and Bo's eyes seem to look only 1 way, to the left(I bet Seth Williams).

Then he starts to get happy feet, even though the pocket is still solid, and he tucks it and for some reason only tries to run the ball, even though he HAS to know he has to throw it.
