The signs of this calamity were evident for anyone that chose not to ignore them …. which is why I predicted a 4-8 season for this team.

Even the Mizzou fans around us in the stadium were “calling” Auburns plays ahead of the snap. And if average fans can do it ….

I know Durkin comes with an impressive resume, but c’mon. The game is on the line, MU has possession and its third and 10 around the 30 yard line. The defensive call was giving a 6-7 yard cushion to Luther Burden … everyone with a brain knows where the ball is going.

How can you set the defensive coverage with a 7 yd cushion on Burden in such a crucial situation? Such a stupid call by Durkin. Hell, even Schmedding knew better that to give up such an easy conversion to the leagues best slot receiver. Stupid, unforgivable call.

Before the season, if you had told me that our defense would give up between 21 and 27 points per game, I would have predicted us to be 6-1 at this point. Defense has been our Achilles heel for years now, while scoring had really not been an issue for us.

We had the ball twice in plus territory in the fourth qtr yesterday and couldn’t get a single first down. Not one. Including having the ball with 5 minutes left, where one or two first downs likely seals the game. The execution is on the players.

This team doesn’t know how to win. This team doesn’t believe in itself or each other. This mindset is on the coaches.

I have that failure under the coaching column. Either out of fear of another pick-6 or predictably obvious play calling, Mizou seriously stacked the box presuming that Freeze wouldn't risk a pass even with that kind of invitation. Running into a solid wall for 3 and out is no way to win.

The only play call that I felt was doomed from the start was when Payton threw the pick six in the empty formation. It appeared to be a pass and I knew by experience that when the OL leaks immediately Thorne would be toast. The rest of the plays that dont work could be execution or just bad play calls. Enlightening I know. Freeze needs to loosen our players up though and stop blaming them. If our players are playing too scared to mistake we will always lose.

As for the fans: every play that does not work is not a bad play call. Yesterday yall were complaining about a roll out to get Payton some time to throw the ball since the leaky OL sucks. The play did not work because Hunter could not handle the DE, but he shouldve been able to handle the DE. If Hunter is going to play on Sundays he has to make that block because he is no third down back with good hands. The play was called on purpose and it failed. If the coaches cannot roll Payton out to buy him some space then we are not going to be winning anyway.

I would like to see Freeze use more of the WR screen game along with more passes to the RB. The HB angle play is no secret, it is a fairly quick hitter, and it is usually very effective when the defense is in man or zone. I would love to see more of the HB wheel routes as well. I havent seen one of those since maybe Jarret Stidham hit Booobie in a bowl game maybe.

We wish. We are looking up at 15 teams in the SEC. Harsin was bad but was never dead fricking last in the SEC.

You are not going to win when your offense only scores 10 points.

You don't think our offense has been a problem before this year? I'm sorry, what?

I've pointed out ....we had a culture problem. We fired the President then turned around and fired the Athletic Director.

They had no one left in the tank after Harsin screwed things up. Cadillac became a distraction. Is Freeze the solution? Not looking good with the cast he has to play with. If he keeps up with the recruiting .....Freeze may burn out .....but at least there will be a base to work with.

Auburn Recruit
I met the kid from Parker HS in Birmingham today. Defensive lineman.
6-1+ 300 lbs .....not fat, muscle .....Good Kid ......They should have used two pastors to Baptise.him .....almost didn't pull him up ........four star ....
