We are in agreement. You would have to look at an earlier post of mine to understand that post above.

I’m excited to have a real coach. Been a long time.

Speech seems rambling and unorganized.
Not to worry, we are paying him to coach football and not be a professional press conference speaker.
I am excited about him coaching at AU but now I almost feel guilty pulling him from Boise.

That press conference was refreshing. He spoke from the heart

Don’t judge spots Dave he’s old.

I really liked what he said about Boise and how it still is important to him. Idk, that just feels like such a great guy move that you have to get good vibes

I could play for a guy like that. Sounds like a hard arse demanding coach that won't take any BS. Wasn't sure what to think about the hire to begin with, but if he brings that same passion and fire to work everyday that seemed to reveal itself in the presser, watch out.
The Bo Jackson memory about talking to his team was pretty awesome as well.

His statement about Boise really proves that he likely turned down a lot of opportunities before this one

Amen. I think I love the guy now. He seems really genuine. You can tell he's competitive as hell. I loved the stories of random auburn connections from years past

I did like his emphasis on development. I think this is going to be one of the biggest potential changes in our football team.

He has done his homework. That’s for sure.

I am from Pac12 country and a lot of openings out there expressed interest but never heavily pursued since they assumed he'd stick to Boise.
Every BSU coach since the 90s in pretty sure ended up in Pac12.
Koetter- ASU
pPeterson- UW
Hawkins- UC Boulder

First, he wasn't nervous. I saw him as intense.
He had a lot to say, and maybe detailed too much for a 1st press conference, but I felt he wanted to let everyone know what he was about and what he expected.
Is segment on his Boise St team, I felt he needed to let them know publicly he wished the info had not gotten out before he could talk to them first. That bothered him, you could tell.
Also, he was emotional about leaving Boise St. That basically except for short stints in Texas and Ark, is all he has known. I understand having to finally leave that home.
It is up to the Auburn Family to now make him feel he and his family is apart of this family, and we will support him in everything he attempts for this team.
I like his intensity, his importance of work, and all those framework needs to make his team be the best.
As he said, not just the Iron Bowl but every game...

He made it pretty clear that he has had other opportunities but nothing of the caliber as Auburn. The guy has a drive to further his career.
Loving it.
Loving it.

Merry Christmas, Auburn brother.

I have spent Thanksgiving evening with hydraulic fluid from a broken ship-board missile launcher dripping on me because the damn thing needed to be fixed ASAP.
I have spent Christmas in a ships wardroom in Italy, on duty, thousands of miles away from loved ones.
One of my first IT jobs I had to wear a beeper and I was called in after midnight on Christmas Eve (early Christmas morning) to come in and resolve a goddam SOFTWARE issue on our system. My son was five years old at the time and I was interrupted from doing my Santa duties. Being a single dad, I had to take my son over to my Mom to watch him so I could go into work.
Each and every one of those jobs I knew it was a possibility for those things to happen because that's the kind of job I signed up for.
So we shall agree to disagree, but I will finish by saying this: if a person doesn't want to be away from their family on holidays and birthdays, then don't choose a career where there are likely possibilities that that can happen.
The Auburn people didn't want to wait "a few more days" to hear from their coach. In doing this today, Auburn gave those good Auburn people what they wanted. If that made 10 or 20 journalists have to surrender an hour or two from their Christmas Eve, so be it. It was a price well worth it.
(P.S. Just a few months after the Christmas beeper, I changed to another position in IT at another company where my schedule was a reliable 9-to-5 with no beeper or "on call". This is what mature adults do if they don't like what they have to do for a particular job. I continue to work for that company to this day, going on 25 years.)

I’d be disappointed if he didn’t.
