As good as McClain is, without competent coaching and defensive play calling, McClain's play will be negated by much better teams than we have faced so far.

well actually, its been reported Mason called the same defensive plays in the second half so the difference in performances can be directly linked to the inclusion of McClain in to the defensive scheme. We went from a leaking like a sieve to shutting out the offense

He is the best LB i have seen at Auburn since Spikes.

He’s no Karlos Dansby.

One of my all-time favorites. I still see that int. he made on the sidelines against UNC in my head.

Were my eyes lying to me? Because I could've sworn I saw man and blitzes in the second half, a ton more than I did in the first half.

Exactly. We don’t have the guys to do it. As soon as we started rushing 4 we got to their QB.

No you're correct. We started the 3rd quarter still doing the same stuff as the first half.. Halfway through the 3rd, after they scored, we FINALLY made a adjustment and went more man coverage and started shutting things down.

Yep, it was evident the scheme changed drastically. I want to know who made the call. Mason finally have an epiphany, or did Harsin yank a knot in his arse?

I've mentioned it in another thread, but we looked lost just trying to get lined up. Then when Zakoby came in, we didn't see that much, if any, in the 2nd half. I'm sure he and Pappoe are the "defensive quarterbacks" and make sure everyone is in the right spot. Why that wasn't addressed knowing. Either was gonna play in the first half is pretty concerning from the defensive staff.
