I’ve made the argument before but Brandon Cox was the last starting AU qb to sign out of high school, and play out his eligibility. Do you not see the underlying issue with this program?

I don’t see what the issue is? Had Bo Nix stayed I’m not really sure how much he would have fared better than Thorne. If a receiver can’t catch a ball with Thorne I don’t see why that changes with Nix. Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields both transferred to other programs and made the CFP. Also, where does this leave Cam?

we have had an undefeated season, a Heisman winner, and two SEC championships since Tubbs was rightfully fired.

We had an all world talent in Cam Newton who transferred in for 1 year and Nick Marshall who also transferred in. Minus back to back miracles, we don’t have a second SEC championship or a second appearance in the BCS NCG. Without those two outliers, what do we have? We have the exact same results we’ve gotten without them. They are not indicative of the health and stability of the program.

Plus no coaches dropped the punt which started all the bullshite

But why did we change up returners when Scott was doing well? shite like that and putting in Robby when we had momentum, only for him to lose yardage. I think Hugh likes to get cute sometimes instead of doing what we know works. I think the overall plan was good, but there were some head scratching decisions that ultimately cost us the game.

It's like this.

We were married to a spouse that was a solid 6.5 . That spouse showed us some of the best nights of our life, but we had been together a long time, and most days were pretty average. Some were even disappointing. Kinda like you would expect.

Then we went through a bit of a midlife crisis, and we decided that dammit, we own a business, we've done well for ourselves over the last several years, we're in our prime, and we can do a lot better than a 6.5. Our neighbor on one side is married to a 10, and on the other side is at least a hard 8. By God, I am at least as good as them! So, we file for divorce, and $21.7 million later, we're free and single.

We find ourselves a new spouse, and convince ourselves it's gonna be great. But we take that spouse to our first Thanksgiving, and the family is skeptical. Spouse doesn't even make it to the second Thanksgiving. Divorce #2 is final, $15.3 Million later.

Now we're on Spouse #3, hoping we finally found "the one" we've been searching for all this time. The family is skeptical... they say this one reminds them an awful lot of #1, and they can't understand why we went through two divorces in the first place. We tell them "but this time it's different."

Time will tell.

Why are we assuming the coaches made the returner sub decision?

Why would they allow a totally new returner in the game for no legitimate reason?

I’m not arguing there wasn’t a legitimate reason. That was the question you posed.

I don’t understand then. Coaches make the calls to substitute.

So, by your own reasoning, the reason we made a substitution at punt returner even though Scott was doing so well, was for a legitimate reason. Unless you are trying to argue they made the substitution for an illegitimate reason.

In reality, the players have a lot of say in this matter too. The most likely scenario is Scott held himself out of the play for a reason we will probably never know, and the special teams coordinator was fine with the decision. Not the first time it has happened in a game and won’t be the last.

Now we're on Spouse #3,

I feel like a battered spouse when it comes to AU football. You wanna believe they’ve changed, and tonight is the beginning of rekindling the romance, but in an instant you’ve been punched in the gut and tossed over furniture just like old times. Now we’re laying here licking our wounds on a message board while Auburn football has headed out to the liquor store for more beer and cigarettes.

Freeze needs to stay and our players need consistency. Granted in year 3 if he's still doing stupid stuff and losing to nmst he needs to go. His recruiting is awesome. He has continued to go after players that are a huge need. But he has to be more in control and more disciplined. I get the feeling "he's like the fun uncle" and you look across the sidelines and their coach is "the strict parent". He needs to be somewhere the middle and his staff needs to mirror that.
