Ok, we got slow folks here. The second part first. I have not called for a firing. Would set us back. But Hugh does suck and won’t make it four years. Praying recruiting stays well for next coach.

First part, and again I ask, like I have so many times, if it was that bad coming out of Harsin, why are we regressing in year 2 after 2 Freeze recruiting classes?

Dye inherited a crap program. Did he regress in year 2? Tuberville inherited a crap program, did he regress in year 2?

Does any successful coach regress in year 2?

He had three 8 win seasons at Liberty but did have 10 in 2020*. Since he left Liberty is 16-1 and a NY6 birth (yeah Salter but Chadwell brought in a shite ton of transfers to bring the roster up to par, particularly RB). And yeah, he took Arky St (lmfao) to 10 wins with a QB with a 19-16 TD to INT ratio. He did have one 10 win season at OM and then laid a 5 win season after he was busted for paying hookers. Dude is average AT BEST. And a terrible person at best.

And some folks laughed at Alabama for hiring Deboner. JFC.

Deboner is a good coach. When he gets put out at Bama, it won’t be because he’s a bad coach, it will be because the fans and the PTB at Bama got spoiled by Saban.

Are you saying Malik Willis did not start an NFL game last year?

Who are these young talent playing on offense right now? QB? Running back? Receiver? TE? OL?

That is where we are so bad. That is suppose to be where Hugh is the master

Seriously, are you drunk?

Do you know how rare it is for a true freshman to start as an SEC player? Ever wonder why? BECAUSE THEY AREN'T PHYICALLY OR MENTALLY READY!!

Did Bo Nix look like a future NFL QB at any time he was at Auburn? Do you not remember his FLA and LSU games? Hell, he threw so many picks ,I just knew Gus was going to crush him mentally!

But here we are, arguing about why a coach who walked into a massive mess, is still losing fairly close games early in his 2ND SEASON! Hell, our roster has had such a turnover in two years that most Auburn fans have trouble naming more than 2 players!

What you need to wrap you head around is the fact that the situation Freeze walked into, was way worse than you imagined. The games Harsin won, or even looked competitive in, were due to what Gus left, and Gus didn't recruit worth a shite his last two years! It's almost like we were given the death penalty and had to start all over from scratch. The saving grace is, NIL and the transfer rule change made things easier to get back faster.

I shudder at the thought of just how long we would endure this shite, if the old rules were still around.

The recruiting landscape has changed a lot with NIL and the portal. There’s no more “farm” program to lock these guys in for 4-5 years.

Recruits want to be seen for the NFL. They aren’t going to get noticed playing at Auburn scoring 14 points a game under Hugh.

People talking about a rebuild need to realize we need a game day winner to get us on the map.

Here's the etched in stone, truth of all truth's. Hugh Freeze is going to be the AU football coach for the next two years, barring an off-filed incident. Either get behind him, or go to Wal-Mart and become another bangwagon fan of that team across the State. Recruiting is better than it has been in, in a decade. We are crushing in-State recruiting. We have one of the most sought-after QB's coming to for multiple visits. Hugh Freeze has a track record of bringing up down-trodden programs. Arky State, perennial doormat Ole Miss, and Liberty, a team that just fairly recently started playing football. The Harsin shite set us back a long time. 4 games into the 2nd season is not the time to fricking start talking about starting over again. We are building. Want to see our 2025 class destroyed? Our best, young talent transfer out? Keep this shite up

Right here. This next ‘25 class is it, I hope he can hold most of it together. Next year have to win the games AU should win and be competitive against Top 25.

To do that, he has to find a way to keep the ‘24 class together, minimize ‘25 decommits, and dominate the xfer portal at positions of need, to include QB. Improvement and competitiveness this season would be nice, but no sign of it so far except some growth on defense. A few of the ‘24 guys may transfer out if our record Is shite and no bowl, so I hope his vision messaging is just that damn strong. This off season is the one to go all in $ wise.

Changing any position coaches will cause turmoil due to doing that frequently the last few years, but there’s a couple Hugh definitely needs to go outside his circle and not get retreads or alumni - technique guys.

I hope it does, but if we get to the point it doesn’t workout with Hugh, there won’t be much left for the next coach unless the hire is a home run, because of NIL/Portal other programs will throw at our higher rated recruits. Too much competition around us geographically. And our smoke filled, bourbon room, ‘consultant informed’ PTB hiring searches are always disappointing.

I just don’t have much faith. We upgraded our roster from last season and we look worse. There was fanfare and hype in the summer and Hugh told us “we look like a SEC team now”. The problem is that we have no identity on offense or defense. Everything looks chaotic and ham handed. The program is totally rudderless right now. The culture is one of losing, and you need to break through somehow to shift that culture; it’s not happening. No one looks inspired or prepared.

Im saying he was not a starter. A back up QB starting a game because the starter is injured is a totally different deal. And I know you realise that.

I remember Bo NIx coming out in his very first Auburn game as a True Freshman and going to a neutral site and beating Oregon with the duck man coaching what was a heisman QB hopeful who had the best offensive line in football. And basically beating that team at the end of the game. I do remember that.

But you never answered my question. You said that we were just too young. I asked who they are right now that count? Our offense totally sucks right now which is Hughs love. Who are our young freshman on offense that are making us lose to Ark and Cal? I know Cam is playing but that kid is a top ranked WR and would probably be playing as a freshman on most teams

Our QB, picked by our coach, is a 5th year senior. Running back is experienced, our best player on offense is a transfer but not young. I honestly dont know if we have any freshmen on the offensive line but I bet there are not any or more than one.

So our offense is total arse and its because of young talent?

I just want you to point them out for me. Thats all. Then I will know

We have no QB. If we can't pass, we can't run an offense. At times against Arkansas it appeared like we abandoned the run entirely

I feel like Freeze is trying to force the passing game. Even when it is a total disaster. I agree yesterday felt like the run was just a side note. The drive where we fumbled in the endzone gave me the feeling that the run was getting some legs to it.

Then we Auburn'd

He's trying to recruit QBs and WRs and sell the blue chip WRs on the roster that they'll get all the touches he promised.

Freeze choosing not to get a portal QB, even two, is biting him in the arse. If you are a QB and you look at this offense and you see Hank Brown getting a start and then pulled at halftime in his first bad game, are you encouraged? If you're a receiver and you look after this year and see Hank Brown and a guy who basically vanished from discussion after the spring as the future of what's supposed to get you the ball, are you excited by that? If you're a blue-chip receiver on the roster watching a second year of QB musical chairs and a chaotic offensive gameplan, what are you thinking? All of the above is why just recruiting is not the end all be all when it comes to fixing our problems. You have to have good coaching that can put it in play.

If Freeze ran a run first offense we would be 4-0 right now. The offense wouldn’t be good, replace those INTs with punts, but we would be winning. Freeze can’t do that though because he won’t give up chasing offensive numbers, and his recruiting pitches fall apart to all these receivers if we play Tuberville ball.

this is Freeze's fault. We had the opportunity to get Cam Ward and Hugh didnt want to spend the money on him. Instead, he stuck with his original portal hire in Thorne and his "build through highschool" mentality.

Honestly, building just through HS is a great way to ensure job security. Why? Because it gives him at least 3 years to build the roster, then another year of "were young" excuses.

Its not like our star Qb we signed last year is going to see the field anytime soon and if we do sign a stud Qb this year, he wont be ready for another two to three years as well.

With NIL, the 1 to 3 mil price tag on QB is now a cost of doing business if you want to compete

This doesn't feel at all like Harsin or the end of Gus to me.

I feel like schematically we are ok on offense. We just can't stop giving it to the defense. Defensively I feel like we are solid, we just need better depth and a different approach to 3rd and long.

The end of Gus was apparent. We hadn't recruited an O tackle in 5 years and the offense was stale as shite.

Harsin felt over when he ran off Nix and then shite the whole bed against PSU with a defense full of future of NFL'ers.

I want to ask again. What upperclassmen on this team will sniff an NFL roster? KLS will, Hunter maybe an UFA, who else?
