You are being entirely emotional:
You are bringing all the emotion here for some reason. There are head coaches at every collegiate level that had nothing more than position or coordination experience. Heck at this point Caddy has more HC experience than Sam Pittman and Kirby did before getting their 1st HC job. Dabo had about the same amout of time as interim as Caddy will have by the end of the year. Why you are so against him possibly being a HC on some lower level next year is silly.

Caddy isn’t ready for the AU job. Period. Regardless of how good it feels to have a coach that cares about Auburn and cares about the players.
It’s beyond dumb to even throw his name out regardless of how many fans and players love Caddy. And yes I’m against it because he’s never even run a practice, not even now, he said they are just doing what they had been doing. He was a position coach in high school. Wasn’t even a coordinator.
So why are you for Auburn making Lac the head coach? Not one other SEC team, not even Vandy, would consider Caddy for head coach.

Smart in turn was mentored by Bobby Bowden, Mark Richt, and Nick Saban during his 11 years as an FBS assistant.
Caddy spent a year as RB coach for Gustav, followed by a season and a half working for Harsin.

quote:Let me ask a serious question...let's say Caddy got the job as people are calling for...how many years would you give him if he had a loosing record? He is beloved by the family and if he had a loosing record in 2 years, 3 years? Remember if we don't do this right we have UT & OU coming in and that only makes it harder to compete...we need to get this right and at least have someone with experience as an HC at some level..
You are bringing all the emotion here for some reason.

quote:I agree with your post, but I find it hilarious that you, and others, want Deion Sanders. Caddy and Sanders have about the same amount of experience. Both started coaching at the HS level. One went to the SEC as an assistant, the other to FCS as an HC in a really bad conference. Neither one is ready to jump to this level and lead an SEC football program.

You can think whatever you want about me or if I’m hilarious. We see what kind of staff, what kind of coach, what kind program, what kind of recruiting Prime can do. Is there a risk with Prime? Yes. We have zero answers to any of those questions for Caddy.
There is no coach that doesn’t have risks.

This is just dumb. At least find an example of a successful coach with comparable coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Dabo had about 12 years, many learning under Gene Stallings.
Pittman and Kirby’s have already been stated so I won’t repeat it.
Caddy has less than 4 years TOTAL under Malzahn and Harsin, neither who I would consider great mentors.
Everyone automatically assumes Caddy wants this job and I’m not sure that is the case. Hell he has even said in pressers he has no idea what he is doing…..so sounds like a solid plan to put him in charge of undoing the damage Harsin did and rebuilding one of the top P5 programs in the country.

I can not believe we are actually "debating" if Caddy should be our new head coach or not.

What is dumb is watching you and others argue against something that I didn't suggest. I put forth that this interim experience and success has turbocharged Caddy's career. And if he wants to be a HC he should ride this wave of success into a HC position at a lower tier. some argued against that then it turned into I'm saying he should be Auburn's HC which I don't believe at all.
