What was Saban’s buyout when he first went to Bama? What is it now?

Imagine the recruiting ranking if Gus goes 6-7 and gets to stay another year only because we cant afford to fire him.

It would be about the same as the previous shitshows Gus has been bringing into our beloved university.

What the fukk does it matter? You are same type of people who can't separate themselves from Alabama, and it's why you want Kiffin.

Well, since you asked so politely...

I don’t want Kiffin - at all. I think that he would be just as big of a mistake as keeping Gus, but in a different way:

My point is that, if memory serves, Bama gave Saban a $0 buyout. I.e., “if you don’t want to stay here, you don’t have to stay here.” It was a year-to-year deal and either side could walk away if they wanted to.

That seemed to work out pretty well for them.

You're half right.

The $0 buyout was on Saban's side, meaning that he could walk away if he wanted at no cost to him or his new employers.

However, if at any time, Bama decided he was not performing adequately and they wanted to make a change, they would be responsible for the entirety of his remaining contract - a 100% buyout. Pretty sure that's still the case.

Oh yeah, who negotiated that ridiculously one-sided deal? Same guy who represents Gustav. And repped Chiz. And Tubs. And (I think) Bowden. And Jimbo, and Smart, and Muschamp, and Kiffin, and practically every other HC candidate we've considered in the recent past.

You'd think we'd have learned our lesson by now.

Sexton is the devil!

Of course if I were a coach he would be my agent. He is like Saban, you want him on your side and you hate him if he isn’t.
