Purely speculation from me but heard from a buddy that is fairly connected at Church. Said there are 3 BOT that will pony up the money for the buyout but will not put their name on it.

My assumption it falls to Greene.

Today or the day after signing day are the possibilities.

This is not my opinion just passing along what I've heard. He's a solid dude but not sure exactly if he has everything straight.

If it doesn’t happen before signing day it’s not happening.

Pretty “solid” source of rumor for a “solid” coach.

Gus is as solid as a fiber laden turd.

I would think that would mean it's people that have been Gus supporters. Or at least possibly one that has been a Gus supporter.

From a rando on AUC:

“I just heard from an inside source that Malzahn is gone later today...take this with a grain of salt... “

Here's the problem. Auburn "leadership" is hidden, backroom bullshite. Own it, be a freaking leader and step to the mic and lead.

We'll need time to form a committee to make sure no one can take the blame for the firing. Then we'll need a consultant to recommend coaches and a committee to interview the prospects. Then a double blind review of resumes with the diversity team. Then lets put the names in a hat.

That's why you have an AD so that power brokers don't look dirty. So we will see. It wouldn't surprise me to see how early signing day looks. We load up and they chicken out on ruining a recruiting class.

Jang is the AUC dude a solid guy?

Don’t know. He is a random poster that I’m unfamiliar with. May be legit, or a troll.

There has been some solid information revealed by randos in the past.

There's no way we get a class that's good enough to change a decision this massive. We'd have to jump into the top 3 for that to even start to be a factor

We aint finishing in the top 10. Not enough impact players left to try for 25 signees. We will get around 20 players. But if we finish with who we lead for and get 5 guys from the transfer portal that could possibly be impact players and there are plenty out there you're looking at a championship type team next year possibly. Obviously that all depends on health and if the ball bounces our way.

Name a single unit on this team that could improve to “championship” caliber by next year.

OT: Lovie Smith era is over at Illinois. It’s really surprising how the pandemic hasn’t protected the coaches as much as I thought it would have back in September.

As an aside, I read on ESPN last week that the firing of Derek Mason signals the disparity of African American coaches in the NCAA. Well, after Sumlin got fired last night and Lovie Smith today, you can bet ESPN is going to be hella mad.

You asked for it Alpine, I obliged.
