this is the official autopsy thread can I ask here wtf happened to Kessler today
The fouls, the missed easy buckets he’s made all year, and the general demeanor/effort when he was in the court was not great…
Glad it wasn't just me. I felt like he looked like someone just killed his puppy or something.
Not sure what was going on. But he looked out of it from the start. Jabari was obviously in a funk too.
When you shoot 30% and make lazy passes that result in turnovers, you lose.

I noticed the same thing. #1 shot blocker in the nation who could own the paint, and he was dazed and confused looking. We just weren’t ready. Sucks because we had loads of talent.

When Kessler has to generate his own offense he is not good. Just hasnt developed that part of his game yet. The early foul trouble takes him out of his game too. We saw it against Bama and UF this year.
Miami also took him out of the key a lot and he was not playing defense where he is most comfortable. Like I said in another thread, Miami had a hell of a game plan.

Yeah they did what I feared Bama would do against us. I actually wish we had gone back to Williams at the 5 like we were doing at the end of the first half. He looked a lot more comfortable switching and staying in front of the guards.

Bruce agreed with you in his postgame interview. He said he should’ve changed the starting 5 in the second half.

This.
And also he had trouble getting the ball up to the rim when he was fed the ball or got the rebound and Miami did such a good job of pushing him around and making him miss layups and put backs. Even Jabari couldn’t score inside.
I think we only hit 11 of 21 layups and put backs.
I’m not going to criticize him for how he looked or acted bc if u look at his laid back looks and demeanor he is just a low key player. I never see him screaming or be aggressive.
So I’m not going to say he quit but it’s got to affect him mentally during the game see him sit so long and struggle to score so many times around the rim.
