Great quote by Coach Dye but he was in his first season and played UGA in a death match that day. It was an established a culture kind of day.

Yesterday was a confirmation of our culture we have had the past 3 seasons. We have found ways to lose games. It’s coaches players water boys everyone.

The lack of making clutch plays truly should be studied at this point. Just look at after the huge Cobb run. We call an absolutely perfect play and overthrow Cam in the end zone. Then the next play awful throw to Fields who was wide open, making it a very difficult 3rd and long in an awkward field position.
I don’t know what has to change or what godly sacrifice we need to do for us to finally put it together but man how many opportunities the last two seasons we’ve choked away

I think it was after the Tennessee loss in 1981.

which was Dye’s third game as HC

for all his flaws, Dye was a brilliant motivator - that speech was an excellent example of how to learn from defeat and not dwell on the disappointment too long

as an aside, that reminds me how terrific the old Auburn Football Review was back in the day - every show - win, lose, or tie - started with a clip from the locker room including the HC’s address to the team

Agree. I'm surprised a coach or two hasn't picked this type of show back up. It would generate serious good will and would take less than an hour.

The referenced video, as mentioned, does not fit at all with the situation last Saturday.

Even with hand waving away the last 3 years, we got sacked for a safety to end the game, the UT game actually had a blood and guts drive to try to win the game at the end but fumbled close to the end zone.
