Because why risk a pick 6 and Marshall has the running ability to take it to the house.

Fair enough.

I just don't know how effective a "true" fb is in gus's offense. Seems to me someone who is a threat out of the backfield like Fulse or Ricky Parks would be a much better option back there.

Yes I know Ricky Parks is gone....

We have improved as the half went on, we get the ball to start the 2nd half, and everyone pimping out video game stats for NM look like morons.

And Holland is still fricking Holland.

Coach Garner really got on Lawson after one of the plays. Looked like Garner thought he missed an assignment. I did not see the miss. Lawson was the only pressure I saw from our DL until Monty arrived.

Lawson broke through on his first play, beat the Olineman and should have had the sack. He overran the qb a bit and was not aggressive enough coming back at the qb. He had a second where he stopped on a dime after he overran the qb but was hesitant. If he lunges or dives, he sacks the qb from behind, but he didn't and the qb got a few yards.

Then on the next play, WSU hit that quick slant as Lawson dropped back a step into coverage and he didn't seem to chase the receiver down that hard. Didn't matter as the LB tackled him pretty quickly, but Garner may have wanted more hustle there and for Lawson not to hesitate on the previous play.

I was watching Lawson on both those plays.

Tend to agree. Think a smaller FB with better pass catching and agility / speed would be more effective. Obviously that can block as well. Prosch is just not getting to his assigned man fast enough and not reacting well when he does get to him. It is like he is ready to maul a stationary target, but the defensive guy isn't stationary.

Eric Smith seems to have been an ideal FB for Gus IMO.

CAP would be a great FB. Almost seems like a wasted position to have Prosch out there. If he can't run or catch a pass he isn't doing anything but tipping the hat to where we're going with the ball.

Not banging on Prosch because he is a proven beast FB but that's not what we need in this offense.

"Proven beast FB" that has missed about 3 blatant blocks already today.

Prosch is a bigger story than Holland today. Everyone knows Holland sucks; people talk up Prosch as if he's the GOAT fullback and he has looked bad.

Prosch couldn't carry Eric Smith's jockstrap.

Yep...

Second half time. Need to establish our first good drive of the night and get some breathing room here. Leach is gonna score more and I don't want to see this game get dicey in the 4th...

Well he was proven at Illinois. All American if I'm not mistaken. It's just hard for him to hit his target in this offense.

Really could've used at least a first down and some progress. These 3 & outs have got to stop.
