Canning him for a 7 win season is the most unrealistic take.

We haven’t seen that number in the win column in years. Not an offense to fire someone over. It’s progress. You’re not going to find 2013 Malzahn turnarounds anymore.

Let’s just be glad we are building some momentum and not deflating like Brian Kelly

He's coming back either way. The conference is hard as hell. Bowl game should always be the baseline with hopes of more. But we can still be realistic

What I want to know is who would we be able to get who's better? If we're willing to pay $5M+ a year on the table with a $20M+ retirement plan, we may get some takers, but are they good?

At least Freeze is cheap. DeBoner gave one of the worst coaching performances in the country last year with the best situation you could ask for, and uat is paying him $10 million a year, 10 year contract.

No one. Auburn is such a pathetic, bottom-feeding program in the SEC that invest so little in coaches, players and facilities that we should thank the heavens we have a head coach no one but us wanted that has turned in two losing seasons heading into this one.

I get he gets his time to get players, system, etc. going, but can we stop acting like bad judgement in hiring is the same as being unable to hire good coaches?

I really don’t care if Freeze is good at coach speak or not. This is still nowhere near the “6 wins is a good season” comment by GusShortBus.

yall also predicted Freeze couldnt recruit either,
never said anything resembling that

just said his recruiting ability wouldn’t matter because of his in-game coaching

not to mention recruiting skills are overrated in the NIL era

at some point “bad judgement in hiring” and “unable to hire good coaches” become functionally equivalent

we reached that point in 2022

Not disagreeing, however, Freeze's mouth lacks wisdom or restraint. He just blurts whatever bullshite idea comes into his mind

Going to a bowl implies 6 wins …. And that simply isn’t going to cut it.

8 wins minimum
With a target of 9 wins.

This team is going to need to gel quickly against Baylor

Well, you lumped yourself in with the others that thought Freeze was a shite coach. Just happens many of them thought he was a shite recruiter too. Remember? he just cheated and bought players. He wasnt a good recruiter. Ring a bell?

show your work

unless you are counting “fundraising for NIL” as a recruiting skill, i cant imagine the ability to talk a kid into signing an LOI is more important now than it was in, say, 2014

if you don’t consider my well-documented opinion of Freezus important enough to remember it, then this debate is pointless

What work? It was just an opinion.

pretty much pointless bud.

Recruiting and selling a program to a recruit will always be important. Even in the NIL era

I just hope we don’t fall all over ourselves to give him a huge raise and extension the first time he wins 8 games. Nobody is looking to hire him away and never will. I hope we negotiate accordingly.
