The second he lands a top WR from south Florida everyone here will act like they knew he could do it, and act like they knew he was a great hire
I’m not going to act like anything. I have no idea what he will do. I just don’t know why we go with inexperience when we should have the money. Davis could be a bad arse and hope he is.
Forgive me for not jumping up and down rolling the trees over the hire. I have been pretty damn supportive and merely have questions over the hire.

are we still talking about analytics or am I too late
We are still talking about it, but you admitted you’re late, so you only get a 3* star analytics based on your tardiness
What path should you take? Analytical or gut feeling from empirical review?
I look at both and go with the wind. Lol.

Yes, pulling good wide outs from S Florida isn't optional or a "nice to have" for Auburn. A lot of folks would just be happy for him and say "it's about time."

AU still has to hire a ‘Get Back’ coach so there’s hope for your experienced coaching sensibilities.

If we redirected the savings towards NIL, it may be a net positive. WR coaches don't seem to move the needle other than recruiting

I don't think that's how it works.

You don’t pay assistant coaches through NIL collectives. They are paid through university funds and through money gained from apparel and media contracts and is designated as NIL compensation but not funded by the collective.
We saved 3 mil a year going with Freeze and not hiring Kiffin.
Also, it’s interesting that you say we only need him for recruiting and yet we have bitched a lot in the past about how shitty our WR coaching is. Lol

Accountants can work some magic. I'd bet that salary savings do find their way into NIL in some form. For instance, YellaWood is paid 5 million by the University for something that only costs him 100k. He then donates 4 million to NIL, in addition to what he was already giving. I'm sure it's more sophisticated than that, but I assume that's how this new NIL world really works.

Look, I’m not overly worried about it, just questions and curiosity. Like I said, Davis could be really good at coaching and recruiting. It’s pretty much irrelevant at this point. I am looking to see how our recruiting and portal finishes and then onto Spring. I’m sure there will be plenty of portal transfers after Spring in CFB.

Davis is a good WR coach, at least from what I've seen. His WR corp was probably one of the reasons an abysmal GA State team in 2021 improved and made a bowl game this year. They were one of the best in the Sun Belt, probably one of the best in the G5.
