Anyone who believes Gus will do anything to signal a change in offensive direction is delusional.

When coaches struggle like this they have to make changes. He has to find an offensive coach with a similar philosophy and allow that individual to do his job. Briles is the rumor and that might buy Gus another year.

don't think Gus gets fired, so I'll take forcing Gus to get a legit OC.

Or bringing in a specialized QB coach/OC and letting the QB's work with outside people to develop them.

Lashlee was invited to look elsewhere last year and didnt find anything so Gus kept him. This time, I think he is fired. Gus wont have a choice. Lashlee will be the scapegoat. Needs to bring the Briles kid in.

please let him hire Otis Franklin back if he fires his boy toy. that would be about the only thing that could make this worse. we are so fricked. just let it burn.

So who do you all want as the next OC from the possible choices?

A) Ryan Aplin
B) Paul Johnson
C) Mitch Mustain

Let's be honest, Rhett at most will only be demoted to an off field analyst. It's been said over and over Gus doesn't want an outsider perspective on his offense, tips to tweak it, critique it, nothing; it's all up to him and how/if he wants to. He brought in Kodi and Hand lol.

Quiznos isn't bringing in ex-Subway ppl to find a way to stay competitive even though they're dying. Blockbuster didn't morph, didn't seek out Netflix, Amazon, or Redbox when the writing was on the wall. The epiphany must happen with Gus, only Gus. It's sink or swim the next year and a half. The flames will only get hotter unless he wakes the F up and adapts the offense then finds a QB coach with a shite. NFL OCs do this often and are versatile.

When the fans stop buying the tickets, the apparel, the parking spots, donations subside, there isn't much of a choice to make regardless of buyout. Times ticking.

So which one of those guys is a better yes man QB coach?

Idk. Perhaps find a QB coach that actually can develop a QB. Or perhaps find a QB coach that actually has an eye for talent, so we don't keep striking out on the most important position on the field.

That won't help when you still have Malzahn telling them when and where to throw it.

Sean White almost threw 2 pick 6 sixes Saturday because TAMU sat on the swing passes after we had success with it on our first drive. Malzahn kept calling regardless.

Remind me again who coached Cam and Marshall? People are complaining but if this offense had a good QB, we'd be 3-0 right now.

Good qbs make good football team? Well I'll be a monkey's Uncle.

But we don't have one. We had a chance to find one and came up with Jon Franklin.

If we had used 1 QB against Clemson we would be 2-1 right now. If Gus is calling plays Lashlee will make no difference other than getting a better salary because he gets "hired away" instead of riding this into the ground. It is about accountability and if Gus is not, then we are doomed.

What did he "coach" with Cam and Marshall? Run left, run right, and then throw to a wide open receiver after you've gashed the defense repeatedly with runs to the point wherein they have to start selling out to try and stop it? That isn't "coaching", its scheming...hence why after the season ended Cam was highly scrutinized on his actual QB fundamentals (to the point that he had to basically re-learn how to actually play the position pre-draft), and hence why no one thought for even a second to test Nick Marshall as a QB at the next level.

Malzahn is a pure scheme coach. His QB's look good when the scheme looks good. Its scheme over players, which is completely arse-backwards because his scheme has no flexibility and it is obvious that he has no idea what to do when he doesn't possess a huge advantage over the defense. Real offensive minds can make something out of whatever they're given; Malzahn is the opposite in that he needs X, Y, and Z to premeditate everything he does.

The phrase you are looking for is "one trick pony" and I am starting to believe it.

why wait - and not do it now

It's not as if the bastard is suddenly going to realize Gus is not his real daddy and do a walk-about look for the real one.
