The only things I hated about Gus was his lack of O-line recruiting and the ridiculous contract extension he got. Everyone could see that as soon as Stidham/Kerryon/Braden Smith were gone his team would revert back to 2015/2016. And it did.

2019 Auburn was a good team. Limited by freshman QB, Gus stagnant offensive ideas and an insane schedule, but that was a good team.

I would argue that Malzahn was indeed hated. I remember in 2017 people getting pissed at Malzahn just because he visited Arkansas friends during the Arkansas weekend on a Friday night. Yall were consumed with hate for the guy and every little thing was picked apart whether it needed to be or not. I at least disliked him for reasons that he actually earned.
Gus hate began midway after ‘14 year when we lost to UGA if I remember right.
Yall seem to forget dive, run up the middle, pass, punt. Teams/Fans were predicting his plays before.

If we had someone recruiting 80% as well as Hugh that actually had a clue how to call the game to his team strengths, that would be an upgrade.
This is a great point, and if it cannot be recognized by CHF then we (and him) are in for a very frustrating tenure of this head coach. I am not a “Fire Freeze” guy, but I am definitely losing my patience with the lack of coaching in things like common sense offensive play calling.

Hugh said in his press conference today that he, Austin, and Nix call plays at different times.
This doesn’t sound like a good thing to me.
